Well guys this is what happened. I stopped smoking about 2 years ago and kind of lost interest in cannabis. Well one f my old friends ended up moving into my area and said he had some seeds that he wanted to play around with. I told him that all I had ever grown in my life was a Ficus. Well he said we would just research it and research it we did. I have read over so much of this forum I'm getting too excited thinking about the prospects. We are looking at doing a hydro set up and have started to gather materials. We also decided to be serious and buy some legit seeds. Well anyways the seeds he was sitting on were given to me and i decided to play with them. I put them in a paper towel, soaked them in some bottled water, and waited. Well once again these were just play toys but i had dirt out of a large flower pot and decided to plant them. I then took the cover off a fluorescent light in the kitchen and hung them using some coat hangers. I kept the temperature at 78 degrees and 72 during night time. They sprouted. Immense joy on my part proceeded. Well I decided to build a little something for them. I took three black light ballasts i had and mounted 3 24" 20 Watt 6500k fluorescent bulbs on a piece of cardboard. The question or questions I'm getting at is what do i need to do to keep these babies alive. I have grown attached to them and even though they were just a joke initially these guys mean a lot to me. All Im doing is spraying them with a tiny bit of water with a little bit of Peter's professional mixed in (Left over from other plants). I will try to post pics.

Thanks guys!

I can't wait to get the real deal going.

in oz we are coming into spring... so you could probably raise these seeds outdoors in the sunlight if you wished... just use a plastic bottle (coke bottles seem to work well) with the bottom cut off as a mini hot house sort of thing... doesnt matter tho really...

will you be growing these indoors or out? hydro suggests in...

indoors heres a thread i made on setting up a hydro sysem.. its what i use.. and many agree its the simplest way to go...

recirc hydro grow set up

but for now.. what to feed these little girls... for now id just be using water... maybe throw a small amount of petes mix in there... but if youre going to go hydro.. best get some grow nutes from a hydro shop i reckon... i use Dutch Master... simple.. Canna is pretty good too.... youll also need a PPM meter.. or E.C... same thing really.. i use PPM.. more accurate.. mix up around 1/4 strength.. about 3-400ppm...

you got a room pegged out yet?... for seedlings i use a wardrobe.. as they need to be sexed before you can really grow them out.. and a wardrobe is a cheap and easy way to do this... once sexed and you know theyre all females... then grow them out and clone the shit out of them.. then set up a decent room.. a 600watt or even a 1000watt and grow some decent buds... or you could just use the wardrobe.. 400watters fit pretty well im most 2 door wardrobes... and its pretty cheap and easy to set up.. good place to start...

These initial guys will be grown in side until they are strong enough to go outside. I just ordered some AK-47 seeds and those little beauties will be grown indoors on a hydro system that will be set inside of a 4x3 "wardrobe" Providing the light for these ladies will be a 400 Watt HPS/Metal Halide. Thank you so much for the advice, I will definitely follow it! One more question. How far leaning is ok... I know they shift but every so often I'm afraid they are leaning too much. I'll upload a picture for reference.

Hey bmw,

As for the bending, they may do that if you dont have the light directly above them ie: grow towards the light, if the light is above, their still young, and will straigten up on their own in time im sure.

Other things you can do ive read to make them stronger, is either bend them back and forth gently couple times a day, or have a fan blowing around them, but not directly on them ( can cause windburn/dry them out) both these will force them to thicken up them stems and grow strong.

Goodluck with ya seeds there mate

Thanks Wrangler.

As far as the bending goes I research a little into propping them up but decided against. I lowered the light a little tonight. It's probably sitting about 3.5-4" above the leaves. And I heard about the fan method but thanks for reinforcing it. I have the lauminum foil hanging a little bit below the top of the cups with a fan blowing at the alluminum foil from about 10 feet away on a low setting. I can feel swirling winds around the cups but the leaves are not being blown by it. So hopefully they self correct over the night. Now it's just a matter of time. Oh the first time is fun!!

Thanks again guys!

heya again,

Im pretty new myself, so hopefully someone more clued in will come and comment, but usually burned tips indicates over fertilization, or PH problems.

Seedlings dont really need anything but water for first few weeks, very sensitive at that stage. Also, reading you had dirt from a old pot? could be your problem..

Either way, you might need to invest in a PH tester, and a PPM meter like Sukonmi said, knowing exactly whats going on with those readings will help yourself, and others diagnose whats wrong :(

Id say just watch how they go, and only use water for awhile, making sure you dont overwater.

One thing I can say being new myself, you tend to worry to much about every little change, just read up as much as you can on here, and try and get the enviroment right for them, and they should take care of themselves for the most part.

Anyway, hopefully someone else will chime in and give better advice :(

Best of luck

Wrangler.

Yeah I know what you mean. That particular plant is the first I have ever attempted to grow so I guess I freak over it a little :( . And yeah I'm trying to get it out of that soil asap. Nutrients are on order so is pretty much everything I need. This was just kind of a pretrial to see what it would be like.

And yeah hopefully someone can tell me exactly what's going on.

Thanks again :(
