Dope found on government's doorstep

Recommended Posts

BULGARIA'S campaign against cannabis has gone literally to the doorstep of power, after marijuana plants were found growing amongst the flowers outside government headquarters in Sofia.

Photos of the plants appeared in the Troud newspaper, prompting the authorities today to acknowledge their presence - and to confirm that the problem has been ruthlessly dealt with.

"We have the pleasure to inform you that the problem was immediately and literally rooted out," a government spokesman said.

Police in Bulgaria are several weeks into a campaign against the illegal cultivation of cannabis - seizing six tonnes of marijuana from fields and private yards, including a priest's garden.
