Im a first time grower, i need trimming tips, how to make my plant real thick

personally i believe tipping should never be recommended unless there is severe height restrictions. the best option by far is low stress training which is simply tying a bit of string to a branch and gently pulling it down and tying the other end down so the branch cant move. each time you tie a branch down the lower branches still grow out like they would if you cut the top off, but you dont lose a bud and you dont stress the plants out nearly as much

 

if you have to tip the plants though just take the very top of the branches off. if you have to cut the plant size down dramatically you might as well make it into a cutting as one can never have too many plants

 

honestly though your best option is to get better genetics. most strains grow one of two ways with the odd pheno inbetween and they are called christmas trees and donkey dicks. christmas trees resemble just that by branching out while the donkey dicks usually grow a single main shoot with little side branching. you can for the donkey dick strains to branch out by tipping or using low stress training, but in the end if you have to hack away or do a crazy amount of training you might as well change strains as there is always going to be a strain that is not only more suited to your growing needs, but will also be a better smoke

The reason people 'tip' thier plants is because the highest tip on the plant produces a hormone that slows the growth of the branches. The further from this tip branches are the faster they will grow which is why most cannabis plants have a general christmas tree shape to them. Removing the main tip will also remove the effect of this hormone and the branches will grow giving you a plant shaped more like a bushy shrub. Training and tying the main tip into a position that is lower than the branches you want to grow will have the same effect. If you have the room to train and grow where ever you need to then like WDC said it is better to LST (low stress train) if not, tip them.
