Best way to store an OZ? Long Term

Recommended Posts

Guest niall

Something air/water/light tight. Preferably something inert like glass or stainless. And minimise oxidation - try to fill the container or have as little extra air in there as possible i.e. choose a smaller container only just big enough for the job rather than a large one, vacuum seal if possible but with a solid jar not a bag as you'll just end up damaging trichomes.

But before you store it make sure it's properly dried and cured, I usually store an ounce in a brown paper bag for a few days (really shits me that people sell wet weed!) and then transfer to a stainless storage jar, opening several times a day down to several times a week over about 4-6 weeks. That slowly reduces moisture content and gives a consistent content throughout, lets the full flavour and aromas come out and makes it a pleasure to smoke. Then it's perfect for long-term storage.

thanks for the responses guys!

just wondering...

How long does MJ last when stored properly?

Could you potentially pack it away for 12 months?

Does potency decrease over time??

Or will it just be incredibly dry and crumble, making it a harsher smoke?

THanks!!

I just use moccona coffee jars  and found a forgotten nugget the other day that was about 14 mths old. It certainly hadn't lost any potency and although it was fairly dry, was smoother to smoke and more fragrant than when I first jarred it.

The sad part is that I don't have any more well-cured buds ^_^
