Aero Garden Tips

Recommended Posts

Gday smokin, The aerogarden certainly got my attention when the add came on. I reckon a scrog would be the go. Can you adjust the light times yourself or are they pre-set. I've got my flouros on 24 hours at the moment, and flower is of course 12/12.

Have you got something you can put over it so ya ordinary lights don't effect ya 12/12 cycle?

Got anything in it yet?

Does it not come with nutes?

Wow!!came home from work today and have seedlings popping up after 3 days. You can't adjust the lighting on these models,on for 16 off for 8 but I have been giving them about 20 hrs by turning the light on and off manually.they come with some basic nutes which seem to be working on the seeds.I am going to try putting it in a cupboard to control the light and increase the ambient temp,(bloody cold where I am).I will keep all posted and intend on keeping a diary.Any tips are still welcome :peace:

Ok I can give you some feedback.... I got an Aerogarden and put some seeds in a month ago. It's shit for growing weed, trust me.

Sprouting worked ok and the unit itself works well too but it's simply not designed for this plant. I have extended the lights up as far as they go but weed grows much taller. So I got light burn on the leaves touching the CFL's. Worse yet, the water is pretty much stale as the tiny pump only circulates very slowly. Most of the roots are permanently water logged, only the top two centimeters are above the water level. This and the fact that there is no air ciculation has resulted in gray mold on the stems.

I made an emergency transplant tonight in an attempt to rescue two of the plants (the weaker ones). They were taken out of the Aerogarden which caused root damage as they all entangled under water. Getting the plants out of the tiny pots I realized the pots are much too small for the developing root bulb. Was a PITA to cut it outta the foam. Plants were then sprayed with copper oxychloride and transplanted into pots with coco. I doubt they will survive the mold.

The one that was going strongest ist still in the Aerogarden, it is only mildly affected by mold and I have some hope that today's transplant will give me some clues as to what to do about this one.

If you just want to raise seedlings, there are cheaper and better ways. For fully grown plants the Aerogarden isn't suitable as its too small and lacking important features (like fans or airpump)
