Strange seedling.....

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, just did a check on my young bbxww plants I started recently, and one of them has done something very strange.... She seems to be growing with three leafs coming out from the stem instead of the standard opposing two! I just tipped her a couple of days ago, and that was what I thought it was (I'm trying to FIM) but the three leaf set is underneath the cut, so have I got a freak plant or what? Has anyone else had this happen?

Any diff between three leaf node plants and the standard opposed two leaf plants? I was thinking that because of increased nodes, and overall increased leaf area produced per node, that this may be a quicker growing, larger yeilding strain individual? ;) The other two seedlings are normal....

Any thoughts? ;)

Thanks for the input guys, keep it coming! ;)

Hi sols, much appreciated for the advice, have you got any pics? And how did you get the three leaf type? Was it a single plant amongst other sibling plants of the same cross, or was it a "sport", or mutated clone? What was the strain of the plant which came up in this type of nodes? And you say that the plants came up more columnar than bushy, were these plants tipped or left to grow unaltered? And is this in direct comparison to the siblings growing under the same conditions? I know this might seem like a question overload, but I'm very interested in these plants and would like to see if the mutation is either beneficial or able to be stabilized in crossing..... I hope that this is the case....

Thanks mate, talk to you soon....

peace

p.s. Anyone else have this happen? Any pics? ;) If so, feel free to chime in at anytime..... Heck, even if you haven't had this happen, and you have an opinion on them anyway, post away!!!! ;)

g'day; i dont have any pics of tri-foliar plant.

1 was a single seed from good commercial bud.

a friend grew a black domina with 3 leaf per node.

you maybe able to breed that trait into it if you got male and fem of it.

i do not 'tip' plants or trim plants.

g'day; if i'm not cloning then i dont remove top. i mostly grow SOG, lots of short clones. generally, if i dont clone, then i may snap mainstem to stop it growin thru ceiling.

i do not trim leaf to allow more light. is just my preference.

i do top the plant outdoors to stop it growing over fence height.(when i grew outdoor).

i also like the look of single cola plants, my black domina plant should finish with cola about 18" long...pics tomorrow lol
