Seeds Dying :<

hey guys,

 

You may remember me before with my cupboard grow i have a 1m x 500mm cupboard with 2 x 18w grolux lights, humitidy crib and heat mat and 2 fans out intake one outake, i believe they were the 150MM ones.

 

After not getting anywhere too quickly with the 2 x 18w grolux however all seeds were sprouting, i have moved to a 400w HPS which will take them straight into veg.

 

 

Problem is all the seeds are turning brown before they even come out im using a clonex solution to wet the rockwool blocks and the light is on 18/6

 

Any suggestions?

Rizzla, stop using the Clonex solution and just use straight tap water. Go back to flouro until they come good. Flush out the clonex solution - it has IBA (Indol Butryic Acid) in it and young sprouts aren't going to like that. Can you post some pics??

I'm not sure man, am still learning myself. Ive had a similar problem though, and have put it down to me moving them under the 400W too quickly. It takes a little longer but IMO the plants seem to better transition to the hotter environment a little easier when there left under the fluro's a bit a long and become slightly more established. Mullray is right def keep em on tap water for the time being until they perk up again for ya.

going from soft fluoro light to a intense HPS light youll always get young seedlings suffer.. but raised under the 400.. they adapt as soon as they sprout and contuinue to grow strong...and only moist soil... seedlings dont like the soil too wet...

I agree with raising seedlings under the 400 to start with, i've always done it that way and its always worked well for me. I just have the light further away (~60cm) and move it closer and closer after a week or so.

yeah straight under the 400w is ya best bet and stop using the clonex thats a root stimulating hormone for cuttings or clones dont need to use it with seeds. Just some ph adjusted water should be good enough for the first 2-3 weeks at least
