4 days with out water

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just got a confirmation of dates and will be going away for 4 days in the near future.

What I want, or need to work out is, if plants are not watered for 4 days, or given a big drink and left for 4 days, will it cause any problems?

If it will, would it be ok to set up a slow drip feed system so they get water while I'm away?

I have some time up my sleeve to get this sorted so I'm not stressing too much at this point in time. lol

Cheers all.

:peace:

i would have a friend stop in for 1 day to water. But if thats not an option a drip system could work for ya. Just put it on a timer so its not going 24/7. Probably didn't tell u anything u didn't know. But 4 days without water probably wont kill em, but i don't think id do it.

when i go to mardigrass this year im going to have to leave my room unattended for 5 days and am in the same boat as you :peace: im intending on watering on the day i leave and if i had my way i'd have a mate come over and water my plants, but as im stuck with an incompetant mother in law im getting her to turn everything off except for an oscilating fan after a few days. sure the 2 or 3 days in complete darkness will be no good for the plants, but they'll survive and it beats frying the shit out of them lol

When i used to grow outdoor sometimes it used to be hard to get to the crop... lol

So when i knew i wasnt able to make it in time for the next feed/water i would do this.

:Get a towel then soak it, then put that on the medium around base of the plant just b4 ya going away...... :/

(making sure that its not wrapped around in contact withe trunk)

That way it acts like a mulch and helps stop evaporation....

(you can even soak the towel in a weak nute solution for added benefit) :)

Hope that helps :peace:

No one IRL beside Mr knows that I grow. And both of us will be going away. I wouldn't trust Mr with them anyway because he keeps threatening to kill them! lol

The drip feed system I was thinking of rigging up would actually be that slow that I wouldn't need a timer. You know those drip control things they have in hospital? Well I have one of those things, it's very handy.

Bummer WDC. That's another reason why I am going to have to sus out something too, for next year. I'm hoping to still be growing and I am going to Mardi Grass even if I have to walk there! lol

BUNNINGS is the answer, they have these spikes that you put in a plastic bottle and it waters your plants, whilst your away.

Gills

;)

No offence but those things are useless.

I actually have some and the water just runs straight out, no slow seepage. Was very annoying.

That was another train of thought I had, sort of. I was thinking of covering the top of the soil with drenched cotton wool and then cover it with cling wrap!

I have a couple of months up my sleeve, so I might test run a couple of different methods and see how they go.

Thanks again.

Cheers.

Personally, and regrettably, I had a grow going well and then spring break hit :) After I returned from my trip (7 days) I found that all 6 of the plants I had up at the time were still alive and kickin (their health was nothing to brag about however). So I would say they would most likely survive a small water break of course with consequence to the bud ;) I would prolly go with the drip system though, sounds like the easiest way to do it without letting n e one know

Hey I don't know what area u are in but east coast australia is in very heavy rain.As it is nearing the end of outdoor season and the weather is quite cool I would be very wary about putting towels of water around your plant. You don't want to encourage moulds or it can wipe your whole crop/plant out.remember it is only a weed!!!! It is good to let it dry out if it is planted in soil and outside. If you are in Aust. N.S.W you must be in flower ? Be gentle when flowering
