I veg to one third of the grow space and then flower them, how long they take depends on the strain, try to keep your lights on temp between 24 and 27 degrees, a variable speed exhaust fan is a useful thing to have.

I use a 3 to 5 week veg on average to get a good 50cm x 30cm bush, If your growing in soil, or passive hydro, it will be heaps slower, also my leaves are usually huge by 1st week, huge wide three leaflet leaves, after about the 3rd leafset, and growing a couple of inches a day, but the big leaves are mainly strain related alot of strains I've got start much more slowly. Also I have had some good yields with a 1 week veg with 30 plants per m2, actually I think it was less than 1 week.

be careful though cos when you flip the switch to flowering, some strains will take off and double their size. Years ago I had a crop where I really misjudged the stretch of sum plants (Great white shark) and I had to drop my Tray onto the ground and even then the plants almost hit the light, but this was mainly due to heat.

Heat will stretch your buds, and make nodes much longer.

Bigger plants will grow bigger buds, but I find that 400w lights at about 35wpsf will only grow buds in the top 2ft of the crop, and the rest of the buds will be fairly windy things. I think Tom will probably disagree though.

My main crop usually takes about 3 mths, depending on growth rates and flowering times of strains.

thanks guys,,,,,,,,,,,,i done this a few yrs ago,and i kinda kept me growing outside, but im being forced to now, so im gonna do it,,,,,but yeh a few yrs ago, i tried growing under some normal house fluro, maybe 40watters,,,, and everything seemed fine,, they were not as bushy as outside ones, but going more than ok, with plenty of tips, then when i tried to make them bud,,, they didnt doit, and basicly you could see them struggle, then they shit themselves,,,,i now know, it coulda been wrong nutes, i didnt stop feeding them nitrogen, also wrong timeframei went from 24/7 to about 6-8/16,and i forgot to turn it off sometimes an i forgot to turn it on sometimes,,,,, when i was growing outside,,we used to let them go bannas, then when they got to "that stage" start bringing them inside to the garage earlier in the day for a few weeks, and bingo it would really start pumping its heads up,,,,,i carried the same idea over to these guys, but wasnt strict enough to stick to the times,,,,,,,,,,i know better now,,, it was always in the back of my mind,"why didnt they bud proberly,,,,,,hopefully i have learnt a lesson,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,overanout
