Help wtf is this ?

Recommended Posts

Need some info for a friend , appreciate any help

I bought this stuff from HydroShop ,you know the petshopboys one.

The bottle on the left if for spidermites and the bottle on the right is for thoses gnat fly thingo's.

Has anyone here ever used either product or know whats in them , i quizzed the hydoshop and they said "just stuff". Thing is ,the gnat fly stuff really works , killed all the larvae, flys ,eggs etc. They have no odour at all and the gnat stuff has white silt settling on the bottom which is the only way to tell them apart.

3ml per litre of water straight on the soil does the trick for the gnats and 3ml per litre sprayed for the mites.

Anyway it costs $25 a bottle so i wouldnt mind knowing what the shit is.

i wouldn't put anything on my plants if i don't know what's in it. could be any sort of crap and you'll be smoking it eventually. i'd stick with tried and tested stuff like neem oil or citrofresh or make your own preparation with garlic, red pepper etc - the recipes are on the net. neem oil is good for most stuff tho imo.(definately for spidermite)

Alot of grow shops buy bulk mite and bug killer then seperate into smaller bottles noone needs alitre of abermectin, but without directions or even knowing what it is i wouldnt be spraying any plants just yet..

Ive used kill a mite before 200ml for $15 lasts for eva at 2ml per litre to clean out room after a grow or sprayed on spotted clones is alot milder on the nose compared to other mite killers ive used before..

bil

cant u e mail psb and get them to id em?

Eco oil rocks for sure. With spidermite though you have to spray about once a week - 1o days with eco oil just to be safe. I've found it doesn't seem to knock them completely dead.

I buy most of my things like this from Bunnings and agricultural stores so at least you know what you're getting for the money. Jesus, $25.00 for those tiny bottles is a crime.

The gnat flys are from a larvae called sciardae. The best and cheapest thing for it is coopex powder which you can buy in stachels from bunnings. It's permethrin (synthetic pyrythem) and you dilute one satchel to 10 ltrs of water or nute and water it through. Kills them dead and is non systemic. Then you can spray neem or eco oil to kill the adults flys which are the gnats.

Just checked about the coopex powder. 25 gram satchels for about $10.00

I got this from Integral Hydroponics book (using coopex) to control gnats (scaridae/fungus gnats) but he talks about it for use in coco. You dilute a 25 gram satchel of coopex powder in 10 ltrs and water it into the coco. My guess is it will work just as well in clay and perlite etc.

Honestly, this stuff is fantastic and safe because its non-systemic. Also you can mix it at 25 gram to 5 ltr and use it as a spray (not from the book but it works very well for me). I never use it though when the plants are in flower and only use it for spidermite like this because those buggers are hard to kill off and coopex seems to work well.

And yeah, eco oil is great as a spray.

Mate, if it doesn't come with a label and actives listed with comprehensive instructions for safe use don't buy it. Sounds like the petshop boys are dodgy as.
