with coco you need to flush it a few times before use to get all the orange/brown shit off it. for some reason if you flush once, wait a few hours and then flush again you are able to get heaps more of that crap off the medium so i recommend flushing 3 or 4 times to make sure you have got rid of it all.

as for nutrients and additives, i recommend using dutchmaster gold as the nutrient because i have tried many different brands and so far its looking a fair bit better than the rest. i cant afford all the fancier additives like cannazyme, but i use pk13/14 and superthrive and still get great results. personally i dont think you really need anything more than superthrive and pk13/14 if you use a decent nutrient, but if you feel the need to use them it wouldnt hurt.

you'll probably find that after you have watered the plants a few times you wont need to check the pH, EC, etc. but you will definately need to suss them out when you start growing again as well as when you decide to up the nutrient strength.

the best tips i can give you are to add a little perlite for drainage, flush the medium throughly before use and then once every 2-3 weeks while growing and the most important tip of all when growing in coco is to use the biggest pots as possible. there is nothing worse than a rootbound plant in coco as they pretty much stop growing and it prolongs the harvest date :photo: in your tent i would aim for 4x 40L pots, vege the plants for 3-4 weeks with major training and then flower them. in reality the bigger the pot the better, but 40L pots should be enough for each of the plants to yield a few ounces so long as you have everything else right :protest

best of luck mate and if you have any more questions dont hesitate to send me a pm or jump in chat when im in there and i'll spend a few hours with you if needed :xcited:

Coir is a hydro medium like any other. Probably holds more water. Canna make an a+b nutrient specifically for coir, although conventional nutrients work fine.

One thing is the quality of coconut fibre varies considerably with some blocks not expanding well and containing a lot of grit. Trouble is you can't tell until you've expanded it and by that time it is too late.

I've gone organic and I still use it my organic mixes. people seem to love it or hate it.

If your using the Canna coco tt it shouldn't need a flush. Couple things I can think of

* Mix your nutes up the same as hydro, but not strong

* Silica is a useful addition

* Add some Cannazyme as well. Seems to help with keeping the sciarid fly/fungus gnats at bay.

* Cut the coco with perlite to assist it with drainage

* Don't over water :xcited:
