Finally Started Need suggestions :D

Hey guys,

Only new here however i have ordered my seeds from growhigh, some lovely white russian.

Atm have just obtained some bag seeds from a mate of mine and have setup my cupboard as the veg.

Dimensions of the space im working in is 910mm X 410mm 2000mm LWH

Im using a 2ft fluro with 2 x 18w grolux fluorescents, humidity crib with heat mat and have my 3 seeds (after soaking them in distilled water in the cupboard for a few days til they sunk), in blocks of groban rockwool.

As you can see by the picture i have an oscillating fan in the corner and the fluro is on 18/6 timer.

ATM i am only hand watering, but am looking to setup a flood and drain setup for the veg room.

The flower room is yet to be built i was thinking on a 1.2m grow tent with all the necessary equipment (600w HPS) and possibly using a DWC setup in that room.

From the pictures and information i have given i could really use some good advice as to how i can go about my flowering setup and/or possibly improve my veg room if needed?.

Many thanks in advance, its a pleasure to find an aussie community such as this one.

Regards

RiZZLA

you have about 4 sq/ft for your veg room. you are using 36watts of fluro which is 9w sq/ft. you want about 50-70 w sq/ft.

the 2 foot fluro would be fine for the first few weeks though.

ideally you would want a 250watt MH for veg or about 200watts of CFL.

a 1.2 metre grow tent for flower with a 600HPS sounds great.

you might want a 150mm centrifrugal fan with odour sok for odour control of flower room.

keep us informed with what ya decide to do B)

 May i suggest installing the inlet fan just above the tray........

Just cause the tray looks like it covers the whole area B) and if ya were to put the inlet under it (the tray) the cool air might not get through enough.....(maybe make the legs on the stand a bit shorter so ya get more grow hight?)

Plus if you have it just above the tray your plants will get the coolest freshest air :greedy: -

However, if the plants are tiny, the breeze from the inlet could be too strong, in which case all ya need to do is put something infront of the fan(on the inside of the room!) to divert the air off to the side.......till the seedling get strong enough to hold up against the direct breeze :flex: ...

Just an idea....... B) good luck with all mate

Nice neat work on that grow cab, I have to say that if I had any questions about ventilation the person I would ask would be Al B Fuct. Be prepared for an in depth and accurate answer. But if you do what he tells you you should never have a problem.

Whatever you do or build the most important component of any grow room is AIR EXCHANGE , its top of the food chain in hydro above lighting water nuts ,,,, its above everything , so many growers take it for granted but Im here to tell you if you have borderline Air problems its like putting the handbreak on your system with lowish yields , cows and carfs within the grow and an environment that is easy for things to go wrong like over watering , PH swings , insects etc by restricting Air the plants metabolism is slowed and depending on the severity of the restriction it ranges all the way down to plant death , it causes all sorts of problems in a grow room , I will even go out on a limb and say it causes 90% of all problems in indoor hydroponics ,, I have had plants outside that have had weak nuts strong nutes , high PH and low PH , flooded burnt and trampled and they take it in their stride because of 3 things , PH was never outside 5-5 -7-0 and it was never high enough EC in the root zone to burn them and Air exchange , if the same slapper management was in an indoor grow with poor Air change they would have been busted ass or mediocre depending on how much heat I had on top of the Air problem ,,, its one of the big unseen things in growing , just think of Air exchange as the Grim Reaper standing over your grow room , believe me its that important .

A good starting place is look at how much your room heats up above outside temperature and create enough Air Exchange to stop the temperature rising above about a 1 -2 degree Celsius per 400 watts of lighting ,, this will get you pretty close but you got to tweak it if you are very cold or very hot climate ,, it will be real close if your nights are 15 to 28 and days 28 to 35 , outside of that you get into Cool Tubes aircons and heaters etc .

Anyway mate hope it gives you something to think about .

i have a grow room similar preportions only about a foot bigger in each LDW and i have a 400w hps in there and have never had an issue with heat.

What i have is a typical ball bearing ceiling fan bolted on the side up the very top and just 2 passive inlets down the bottom both covered with stockings to keep any nasty's out if i was you i would think of the same unless you have comp fans just sitting around

now with you actualy setup if you are using a flood and drain for veg and a DWC for flower ya gotta think of how ya gonna switch the plants into a new system your better off keeping only 1 type of system so that you can just switch pots. What i do in my wardrobes is veg and flower and is very easy to do just take ya fluro's out (i do my clones on a spare shelf in my spare room) put a decent light in there a 250w HPS or maybe a 400w if ya have some decent extraction to keep heat under control. 2 Pot system in perlite recirculating water system veg for 2-3 weeks and then straight into flower

go have a look at a tutorial that SS done called 'setting up a wardrobe grow' its perfect for what you are wanting then instead of having a veg room and seperate flower room just have 2 rooms going at 4 week differance that way every month your harvesting a crop
