Tidal Energy

A tide chart is a bio map of our plants daily energies. [& Our own, as we are water beings too.]

The moon calendar is a valuable grow guide. Been around the Nimbin Garden Scene for some time now and used for planning everything from planting to harvest and processing dates.

I can't believe I've never heard of this before!

I usually plant and harvest by the moon(when it's convenient lol ), but fertilising by the tide is new to me.. but seems logical really.

did you come up with this radic? or was it passed on to you?

it still blows me away how much I learn from this community every day, I think it's probably a big part of why I'm addicted to OS lol

..good excuse anyhow >:(

thanks for sharing radic lol

ive always wondered whether the gravitation pull of the moon and tides will effect indoor set ups.. i know its an invaluable tool for planting outdoors.. my granddad always used moon charts when planting out his vegy patch.. he explained the added UV the moon gives off when its on the full moon cycle coupled by the massive gravitational pull to the earth raises the nutrients to the top of the soil for young plants/seedlings to benefit.. ive never really understood why.. it just makes sense.. i guess the tides would effect the rising nutrients in the soil.. what about those people that live so far above sea level.. would the tide still effect them as much as plants growing at a lower altitude?..

personally i dont think the tides have as much effect on indoor gardens.. but i feel they will notice the gravitational pull of the earth and moon.. and maybe fertilizing at these times might be of some benefit.. for a soil grown plant.. but what about hydro?? where you feed 4-5 times a day in a recirc system?.. i dont think it would effect a hydro grow as much.. but who knows.. certainly not me.. i havent the space and scientific know how to do these experiments to properly notice the difference..

maybe i should start taking notice around the full moons for growth spurts...

you might onto something very valuable to indoor growers here Radic.. its certainly something ive had discussions with in the past... we just figured.. yeah, it must have some effect.. how much... we couldnt tell at the time.. until you have a side by side grow.. you probably wouldnt be able to tell.. but it could mean the difference between an average harvest and a bumper crop..

greetingz

welcome

irey thanx for reasoning dis out wid we

well i man believe these laws exist and influence all water beings pon earth regardless of location

roof top in the mts or bassment below sea level none can escape gravity

i man just kinda tied it all together

moon planting still works with indoor plants

fe real

and full moon energy we all can feel

being 90% water our selves

seen

for i

the tide chart is a natural gauge of these energies

we can actualy see the waters rise and fall and feel our own energies rise and fall in sink

seen

i used to reason diss out at ag collage wid the lecturers

they'd said Hippy BS

i used to debate capilary action can not lift 100lt per day from the dam up 20 to 30m to the leaves without help form gravity

haha

dey had a good laugh

local Gorries collect tree sap for medicine

and told me

when the sap is rising it is bitter full of nutients good for blood diseases. a good blood tonic

when the sap is falling it is sweet full of sugar good colds a good general health and energy tonic

they always new when to collect medicinal sap by the enviromental signs dem check for

no watch or tide chart or moon callander

yet dey get it right everytime

naturaly in tune with the environment

youa say

i hear u

some times i feel a vibe to plant someting so i do

then i think oh i hope it was a good day for planting

and i look pon the charts and find it to be a perfect time right down to the precise time of planting

when i am happy and healthy its is more of a fluke if i get it wrong

so most good growers do it naturally and even unconsciously

what does a GREEN THUMB mean????

some1 who is intune wid their environment

for me tis a natural progression

how does one know when to do whatever????

good question

well its that what we are designed for

to live pon earth

all other animals have some thing that tells dem when to do what

instints

seen

well we are animanls too so we have instincts too

and these instincts keep we in tune wid Gaia or earth

so yes

rootsman and rootswomen

back to de garden

tune in

smell the flowers

feel de vibez

hehe

stay irey now

yes i

daz wot i mean when i say

great question rose

are you indoor or outdoor gardening?????

for out door it is fairly straight forward

irragate and add fertz pon the low tide

day or night both seam to work fine

seen

for a indoor hydro set up

dont try this on yah first grow

get a bit experance under yah belt first

so you have a gage to work too

i more ting

dont change course mid stream

stick to yah plan

next grow try dis

ok

first

i like to feed and flush all day and night

i think night feeding works fine out door so why not indoor

seen

there is 2 high tides and 2 low tides about every 20hr

if you tune your lights to that you will cut about i week off ya bloom time

so you will harvest bout 1 week earler yet get heaver harvest weights

more yeild in less time

ok

thats a 20hr day/night cycle instead of 24hrs

ok bloom in a 20hr day = 10hrs light/10hrs dark

kool

imo

you should feed and flush everyday

when the tide is comming in

at rising tide the plant is feeding and transporting water and nutes from the roots to the leaves

so

start feed at the low tide till high tide

on the falling tide

she is sending sugar (energy) down to the roots to forrage for more water and nutez

this is the time to flush with pure water

of course the ease of it all

depends pon what hydro system u use

run to waste is simple nuff and easist to install and maintain

a digital programable timer is all that is required to tune to the tides

enclosed systems like nutrient film tek or flood and drain

and other systems that recycle the nutriens solution in a holding tank

needs need extra attention and can get more complex

what system do you use????

some say a large root system is not neccessary in hydro systems

not me

i think deep water culture proves that totaly wrong

this tek tends to encourage large root systems and big budz

as does tuning in with the tides

so you need to design for that, eg lager pots or more space for root development

All sounds pretty groovy and fascinating Radic.

My current 'set up', as it were, is indoors in a 60/40 soil mix of potting mix/perlite. The potting mix is Searles Premium with is supposed to be rich with organic composts and also contains a slow release fert NPK ratio of 15 : 4.4 : 11.3.

I have only been watering so far, nothing else. And I hand water. No automation 'cept for my lights, they are on 18/6.

I think that covers it. :scratchin:

I would like to grow outdoors but my current living sitch does not provide for that so I have sort of brought the outdoors in.

I am trying to keep it as organic as possible.

If or when it is time to give my plants some nutes, I will be using worm wee and/or fish emulsion.

I also have a fish tank which I can save the water from next tank change. I know for a fact that all sorts of plants love this water. Many many years ago, I had some beautiful potted Hippeastra that used to flower super early and for longer because they used to be given fish tank water, and the non flowering plants had lush, bushy green growth all the time.

Erm... I think I need to go climb into bed for a bit... I feel like I've been hit by a truck. :peace:

Thanks for the info Radic.

I might try and implement this tidal method next grow. :sleepyhead:

~Rose.

irey rose

your system is a drain to waste type

hand watering style is irey too

it means you spend more time with your girlz

that will increase co2 for them and fast track your experince points

:sleepyhead:

gotta love dat

for your next grow

time of planting with the moon is crucial

get a moon planting guide for the date of your next grow

and a tide chart will give you more detail eg what time of day to plant that seed

start on the right foot and fine tuning your system will be easy and fun

ok

for ya current grow

i would use a worm juce mixed at 10 prats water to 1 part worm juce

every second watering 1lt per pot and yes at low tide

ok

start slow eg worm juce at first low tide then water of 2 days then worm then water for next day and every second day from there

you can buy worm juce or buy a worm farm and make your own

datz what i do

cause den you can make yah nutrient solution mix for each grow and bloom

as you go

yes i

fresh is best
