HI Denske,

Its all good !

Sounds like youve got your shit together lol

I work on an average room temp of 25deg.

Not too sure about the 150watt spotlight, id guess it would burn your plants,...and probably not much else if its just a standard spotlight.

As for powering it up, I run a power board with timers for fans, air stones, pumps an stuff. Extension cords, double adapters and leads galore....looks like a great mess, but it works fine for me. The ballast i run straight from power source (via heavy duty extention lead) I think it depends on power consumption, and equipment you use. Hope this info helps you out in some way, happy growing ;)

hey man, unless you know your spotlight is MH or HPS then it is relatively useless. Most spotlights/floodlights are halogen or incandescent.

between 24 and 27 degrees celscius is optimum temps.

you will need to watch what nutes you use with what mix. If you doin't have soil in your mix you will need to use water soluble nutes. Roots don't like to be drenched all the time, so if you're in a medium that retains water you'll be watering every 2nd or third day. But for example for a pure vermiculite medium you would water every day, possibly twice a day.

kittylitter is a new one, haven't heard of that being used before, let us know how it goes. any chance of some pics?

cheers for the feedback,,,,,,,,ummmmm no chance of pics, i havent got a digi camera, and i dont think i should get those devolped at the chemist, if u know im saying,,,, well so far, i got the 400hps in one cupboard and the "150watt mystery spotlight in the other,,,, so far, i reckon the kittylitter is kickass,, i have a couple of mixes with soil/kitty/vermiculite and the plants seem really stable,, and u cant really beat the price of that stuff, and it isnt sus when u buy it,, but i dont know how long it will last,, i might regret saying it was kickass,,, i have had the 150 light for a week longer than the 400, and i dunno what kinda globe its got, looks like a standard spotty though, and it is seriously working,, but it is a totaly different light, the leaves look green, under my 400 everything is a wierd colour,, but i actually grew 2 sproutties from seed under the spotty and they came up really quick,,,but on the same hand,, under my 400 i grew a baby strawberry in a day and a half,,,,, hey i remember reading one of tom's post saying he was growing a strawberry plant ,so if he got in trouble, they couldnt take his equipment, is that true "for all states im in nsw" cuz after that when i was buying stuff i grabbed a strawberry plant,,,,, and i put rocket in the other cupboard,, hehehe,, it sounded good,,,,, so yeh u guys ansered some questions,, leads and power board and adapters is cool , but the ballast straight in the wall on a lead by itself,,, cuz when i was playing with the setup, i tried hooking the ballast up to an adapter with the fans,,, i thought i f!%ed it up, the light didnt really light up, it just flickered and when i rushed to unplug shit,, i got zapped unpluging the ballast, then about 2 seconds later my girlfriend came bursting in the room and i shit myself again,, then when i was telling her what happened i picked up the unplugged ballast lead and got slightly zapped again,, it was still zapping me not even pluged in the bastard,, but when i had it plugged in before and after that just by it self, everything was fine,,, but do they normally make liitle clicking noises inside it, when it's connected but the light isnt plugged in to it????? jeeeezzz i dont mean to write such long posts, they just happen,,,, overanout

Your 150w sounds like the type used in garden floodlighting and those security lights with two globes and a sensor, if it is then it's useless for growing but they throw out a bit of warmth which would have been beneficial to germination of the seeds.

I use a 60/40 perlite/vermiculite mixture fir hydro, the vermiculite part of the mix is there because it retains moisture.

To my knowledge Kitty Litter is made from clay and is also impregnated with deodorisers, I would not be using it.
