My 1st Plant...

G’day Rose Gardener,

Technically it’s my 2nd plant in the system. As I had pulled an 8inch clone from the system after approx 2 weeks, due to turning the water like acid in approx 6 days –...

Here’s how (Funny in my opinion)

I was given a “Faulty PH Tester Pen” that I didn’t know was faulty until after I had turn the water like acid (Approx 5-6 days later). Keeping in mind that I had no idea (Not researched these pens as yet) that these pens (A cheaper version I found out – grin) actually require replacement of diodes etc – lol...

Day 1 (After receiving the PH Test Pen and the clone had been in the system for approx 1 week)

- Get given PH Test Pen in the morning, went and bought calibration solution/s

- Calibrate (With PH calibration solution/s) the PH Test pen

- Test PH of water with Pen, result: 6.5 (Keeping in mind, Hydro PH should be b/w 5.8 and 6.3)

- Add a little PH down, result: 6.0

- I had done the above approx 3 times in the first day And Due to the enthusiasm, I was testing the water often, approx 6 times a day over the next 3-4 days

Basically what had happened over the next few days is,

I had kept putting “PH Down” solution into the water as the “PH Test Pen” kept telling me the PH was above 6.3, Result: Acid water and the plant looked very thirsty indeed.

It took a few days before I had realised that, the “PH Test Pen” I was given was faulty, it wouldn’t keep its calibration (I had calibrated it several times during the few days) and realising it was a whopping 2.5 higher than it should’ve been, so therefore I was adding “PH Down” to the water when it didn’t need “PH Down” – -.-...

Note: I probably could’ve saved the little clone, but I thought to just re-plant another clone into the system AND the current plant is the one in this post...

Guess what? I am now an expert in relation to the PH of water – grin...

Enjoy!

P.S I hope you all get a good laugh out of this one, I did – hehe!
