white goo

Recommended Posts

looked at my babys today and one of the plants had a white sticky substance comming out of the top of it. i paniced and poored water on it trying to remove it. the weird stuff turned into snot and oozed down the whole plant it was a white substance thought it might have been white mould after reviewing over a hundred pics of white mould on the net i dont think that is what it is.nervous of infecting the other plants i removed the plant and had to kill it other wise i would post a pic. has anyone ever heard of this or seen any thing like this?

Best bet is a pic mate, and if you have trouble getting close enough get yourself a $5 magnifying glass and hold this up to camera lens to get a cheapo macro shot....

Off chance it might be some kind of egg cases for various insects, even frogs! (although they'd be strange ones to lay on top of a mullie.... :peace: ) or powdery mildew, although that typically attacks the undersides of leaves, it's not unheard of to attack a bud or two....

But yeah, we can't really do much without a photo bud... could be any number of things really....

I dunno stoney, most moulds are pretty water repellent in my experience, and usually not gooey but more fluffy/thready.... still, it's probably best to remove the plant if you've spread it around everywhere with water and don't know what it is, but I woulda just chopped the affected part and asked for id....

That's me though. :sdj:
