Help please cupboard on fire

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a cupboard of these dimensions:

800 X 530 X 1700 with an extra attachment of 750 X 390 X 60.

I have installed a 400W HPS lamp with bat-wing reflectors. A 150mm exhaust vent running to a inline Axial Allvent fan with a 150mm X 600mm odur sok attatchment.

When I switched on the lamp at first it was 24.6 C and 79% RH. Now after 1 hour and 10 minutes it is 41.5 C and 68% RH.

The cupboard is located in the laundry. There is no external ventilation apart from the normal exhaust fan which is directly above where the odor sok is suspended.

I am thinking the 400 W is too much.

That 41.5 is with both the cupboard doors and the laundry door open with an osc fan behind me with these photos.

Any advice is appreciated.

To me it sounds like u dont have enough air flow through that area and the fan u are using would be better if u were sucking the air through the filter rather then trying to push it through as it sounds like the hot air that isent been pushed through the filter is being pushed back past the fan into ya grow area and that could be y the temps are getting so high.

I have only ever grew in a robe and the highest my temps have got is around 42c and that was in the middle of summer just using one of those 200mm bath room fans with a 400w hps, is your intake passive or active is passive u mite need to install a fan to pump the cooler air into the grow area to drop your temps.

Sorry I had the thermometer device on max setting. technology hey, maybe its just cones. anyway so I'm trying it now with the cupboard doors closed and the laundry door open with the osc fan still on. hopefully i wont get too far over 30.

its passive intake with two rectangle vents in the sides.

I dont think there will be much diff in the 250w to the 400w when it comes to heat they put out but could be wrong.

Do a test run with out the OdorSok and see what temps u get then as i think u will find that having better air flow will keep the temps down a lot more.

The temps i sat most of the time on doing a robe grow with a 400w hps was 24-32c, that is y in summer time i had mine setup to come on at night so it ran cooler.

But imo i think u will find that u arnt getting enough air flow through ya OdorSok for the exchange of air to keep it cool...

well we have had it all open again and its back down to 29 C. . We kinda need the odorsok as that side of things is kinda important.. We are thinking maybe go with a cool tube (somehow - not 100% on how I could rig it yet) first then if temps are still high then drop down to a 250 W.
