trouble with temps

Recommended Posts

hi guys,

major problem here guys any advice well appreciated. i have just started to grow and after a very promising growth in the first two weeks i came to my plants yesterday and they had all died. pretty much in the space of 24 hrs, they had turned brown at the tips of the leaves and this continued until my babies had shrivelled up and died.

My room i 3x1x7ft high with a 600 watt sodium bulb. my medium is just a tomato bag from b and q. as there is limited ventilation this is my main idea for failure. either that or the fact that the soil is very warm????? i really dont understand it. :smoke: could someone clarify this or am i barking up the wrong tree. i do have a small fan in the room but still gets quite warm. like i said all 4 plants are now well dead. but any advice for the next 4 would be massively appreciated.

help the newb PLEASE

Yea good-aye nice to meet ya , ... well more details needed like what are the temperatures .. you need some air coming in and going out ... whats this tomato bag b q shit you speak of ? .. how old were the plants? .. ideal temps would be mid to high 20s imo .. how often do you water them?

:smoke:

Did they wilt as the tips went brown did the stems weaken ?????? more info on the process of the ladies death would help your prognosis

but

Small ish space 600 w light little air most probably the cause is venterlation try to get your hands on a fan cooled light ideal for temp issue if you can fit it in (i would say lower your bulb wattage but that will mess with your yeild well if you had any plants left)

i've found the the fans that you get in desk top computers are handy for setting up pretty small spaced growrooms also they are relativly quiet. Set up two of them one in one out and try and get the inlet to be coming from some where cool and you should be able to control your temps slightly better (but thats no where near perfect)

the B&Q bag shouldn't be a problem for the soil in the bag to get to that temp the rest of the room will already be an issue so try to keep the temp down 26c is prime (unless the floor is heated???)

you need the air to turn over in the room every 3 mins at least plants produce a lot of O2 and that needs to be replaced with CO2

so weather you over feed them or its too hot for them they need the venterlation what ever

Doesn't it seem weird to anyone that he had 2 weeks of fine growth and all of the sudden they drop dead? Could it not be Nutrient issue, maybe he fried em with nutes?

I agree, more information is needed, like what are the temps. Even pics would help a lot, or your space/plants.

Thanks for the advice on temps guys. going to try and incorporate two fans thru air bricks as the wardrobe is on an external wall. The computers fans, would these be the same as the fans found in mini fridges as i have severalof these which i can fit in the airbricks.

in response to watering it was manually as and when the soil started to dry out. this was measured using a ph and moisture meter.if anyone has any more exact measurements for a 6"diametr pot. would perlite help also?

the process of the death was progressive over approx 2-3 days. they browned at the tips and sligtly down the sides of each leaf, and then the tops just fell over. the stems however were still quite strong and healthy looking. i had used phostrogen in the water but only as guidelines on box stated for delicate indoor plants etc.??? could this have been the problem.

Thanks again for the help alredy offered please keep it coming guys. thanks
