Always male?

I don't actually graft onto all of the seedlings all of the time.. breeding is foremost.. as MongyMan pointed out quite eloquently.

I do use grafting to extend my capacity of selected breeds :applause: Grafting can be done outdoors or in.. cuttings cannot always be successful outdoors when grafts may well be.

and.. let's face it.. which seedling is always available to be cut up with a knife? ... that bloody male!

Now .. Once you have grafted your male.. you have all season to watch it perform exactly as well as those females next to it(except if you grafted it from the same germination). There is a few weeks lapse time while the graft really gets going in which time a female beside it may well outstrip it.. but hey.. this was a male you otherwise had to kill.

Here is something i did with some of those teensy weensy buds at the bottom of the branches.

now, tell me what would you rather do?

Kill the male and have an empty pot.. or .. have a go at grafting it and have and possibly have the dilemma of wondering what to do with all the extra buds?

Again.. I said above, that the list hadn't ended yet:

Consider this.. You find a variety you really really.. like on your knees with arms outstretched.. would love to take milliions of cuttings off but at the same time it is the only one and you also want to smoke it all. :xcited:

Enter the grafting technique.. You can take one bud .. yes that smallest leaf bud right where the leaf meets the stem(off a seedling or young growth). So a bud which will never amount to much anyway on the main plant.. will give you a plant which will provide hundreds or thousands of cuttings.. while you get to smoke the mother.. :) sound like a plan?

Alternatively you can just add it to the same bag as the big mother and smoke the lot :peace: Better than going away for the week and finding that one was a male and all you get is buckets of seed.

and the list goes on..

By the way.. remember those hermaphrodites?

Well, isn't at least one good bud better than a bagful of seedy shyte that hasn't got any use at all the seed is even throwaway.. but you didn't know until it started? So.. if by the time you realise that.. then you can still graft it back to something decent outdoors and maybe only get one branch but it is better than the alternative.. Indoors of course it is another ballgame and you can make a lot more weed than outdoors in the same part of the year. Besides .. if you graft the lot.. then none of the genetics of the seed are going to bother you at all.

My girl was almost 3 months old and 7 weeks into the flowering cycle. She had an average of about 8 20cm buds and 20 average sized oily buds buds :bongon:

1 night I inspected the plant whilst I started flushing with PH’d water ready for the harvest. She had grown a few balls on the smaller buds. I picked the seeds off and went about my duties to discover a few hours later she had accumulated a few of these seeds, I had to act quick so without finishing the flush cycle I cut it down and manicured the female buds.

I’m almost certainly guaranteed that it will taste like crap. Although I did use pretty high quality nutrients from Advanced Nutrients.

My worry now besides the taste is how did it turn?? And was it the fan constantly blowing on the buds as a friend has told me, or was it in the plants gene to turn.
