The China Hat air extraction cooler

I decided to go for a china hat with vertical bulb over the adjusta-wing cause of it's superior light spread. The downside of this was the extra heat. So this is my cooler.

 

This is a china hat which i have cleaned, scuffed up and glued with contact adhesive

 

 

 

The china hat metal gets real hot, adding to the heat in the growroom so I'm gluing down 10mm flameproof insulation, shinyside down offcourse.

 

 

 

Insulation is now glued down and air extraction holes are drilled'

This i cut out of an 18 liter pot

 

 

 

Big more glue, piece of cardboard over the top to seal it up and a shitload of gaffa tape. There you go.

Looks good another easy alteration to make china hats aircooled is to just cut the ducting up one side then place that over your light fixture then tape up.. just remember to run your light cord and chains or wire to hang from aswell..

Hey that's neat, Im new here and just looking around at threads for ideas. How's that working out for you?

Ive been using it for a while now and its works perfectly. No probs on 34C days whilst having the plants a foot or so from the bulb. Takes away the heat like it should. No melting, not even close. I could easy run three of these hats with 1000w's each in the van with no heat problems what so ever.
