stealing power is never a good idea as most people who dont get narked on get busted for stealing the power :)

 

Gotta agree there. The #1 reason growers get busted is you split up with your missus and she makes a call for revenge. The #2 reason people get busted is power theft.

 

You should always pay for your power. The law here in Oz protects us in one way - privacy laws make it illegal for elec companies to release any usage details to the cops without either our approval or a warrant, and if they's got a warrant they'll knock on your door. If you pay, you're nothing more than a valued customer. Power bills of up to several thousand a month are not a worry here, unlike places like BC.
