Big bud additives..do they really work?

Recommended Posts

Just trying my hardest to get my 1st grow off the ground and want to know whether the additives like Monsta Bud really does work? ;) Any recommendations would be great. I have no dates written down, don't know the strains, using 400 Watt Sont-agro 12/12 with fan on when light on.I keep the ph at just undr 6.0. I am hand watering at night as recommended , also have the box vented using ducting and another fan .I put a similar bush[same as the biggest one in the cabinet] out side in the chook cage, they can't get to it and it looks like a chilli plant, might put some plastic chillies on it, its flowers are tiny, actually its fuckin' tiny too, about 6 months old, raised under 6 x 30 watt flouro's, then went into flower, so i put it out side about 2 weeks ago and nothing has happened since. I can supply a photo if required! I actually have had these seeds for years, maybe they are old. Funnily enough though, i have sprouted heaps of these seeds and not one of them turned to male, they so far have all been female!, how could that happen?

I made the mistake of pulling them from veg too early as someone told me to do this and you will get a compact flowering plant. That was about 6 weeks ago and this is all that is happening! Someone said 'treat it like a weed and it will bring many fruits for you'!

I over water or under water, give too much nutes, someone else says 'not enough'! Fark..confused and straight, can't buy any personal herb..going insane..i need a smoke...arrrgh! :P ;) :P

This is the only space i have available [an old drying cabinet], running a fan and recommended hand watering by the hydro guy . I'm using 10 ml per litre of Growth Tech Bloom part B as recommended by hydro store in WA. He said don't worry about these products as a 1st timer!

I'm not really happy with my grow. :P :) I have got confused on what to do next!

Any info or any recommendations would be good!

Dreaming of having a cone, even just smelling it would be nice...... my anxiety at the max..gotta go..signing off oilman!

Dude.... those plants arent looking the healthiest. The leaves look pretty dead. I would be cutting them off. Next thing i would be doing is putting an temperature and humidity gauge in there. Second thing is i would be investing in a nutrient meter, if you got the cash go out and get a bluelabs truncheon i love mine :P.

What type of fan do you have hooked up pulling the air out? Might be worth adding another one to bring some cool air in perhaps.

Do you have a picture of the instructions on the bottle, maybe they could shed a little more light on whats happening? How close is your light to the top of the plants? As a general rule if your hand can't handle it they arent going to be able to either.

What type of soil have you planted them in? Dont let the solution hit the leaves either, usually leaves a pretty nasty burn.

How long do you have your lights on for now? I would suggest turning them back to 18 on 6 off, to restart the vegging process if you want to get them a bit bigger! If not you can flower them straight away so turn them lights to 12/12! Dont forget to make sure no lights leaking in whilst the lights are off as this will disrupt the flowering process.

As for the one outside.... flowering season ended about 2 months ago mate they will start to reveg for next season, due to the light be around for longer. If you want you can nurse it through summer and hopefully about april/may is should start flowering again! I wouldnt be expecting any smoke off it before the end of july though, at the earliest

If i can think of many questions for you to answer so we can be of better help ill post again :P

Edit: After rereading your post i noticed something interesting, Growth Tech Bloom part B.... are you using part A as well? Most nutrients have a part A and part B you must add together

I keep the ph at just undr 6.0.
That is your major problem, your grow medium is either coco (PH 6.3 - 6.5) or soil (PH 7.0 - 7.2), you need to flush them heavily with PH corrected water until the water coming out of the pot is within the proper range, you will need to do it at least once again a few days after.

I would also strongly consider starting some fresh seeds or clones if they don't show an obvious improvement within a few days.

Hi guy's, been looking forward to your answers and have realised i seriously need to look at my set up.

Iwill do the suggestions recommended by you all and was also wondering if i re-pot them into bigger pots using straight perlite and hooking up a run to waste system, how often would i water them? How close should the light be?

I have made the mistake of watering them at night when their light is off, so i'm letting in light when its dark for them, i didn't realise that was going to make a difference! Can i take clones from these? Cloning isn't easy for me either, mega drama's!

Quick change of subject:I'm currently importing [and have a sample i'm testing and maybe to sell on this website later?] a solar fan!

It's a simple solar panel connected to 4 metres of lead and a super quiet DC fan, checked it on fluoro power, works a treat! I will be testing it in my cabinet to draw cool air in and i will report back, it really moves some air..and no power required..your grow light does it all! oh yeah..20 year guarantee!

Back to my problems. When you say flush with ph adjusted water, what should the ph reading be?

There is absolutely no humidity in this cabinet! Where does that come from and what should it be at?

How on earth can you run fans, extract air and replace it with new fresh air and still retain a humidity reading? B) i no kapiche!

Finally, i have both part A and B of the Growth tech nutes. I'm using part B Bloom, 10 ml to 1 litre hand watering. I never expected potting mix to be so high in PH, that freaked me out, that's what i'm using! Am i supposed to mix the 2 together?

I will buy a truncheon thing, but how do you use it properly?

Signing off to smoke some leaf..fuckin' grosse! it kills the anxiety but it don't help the pain!

thats whats wrong with this... too much of one thing and not enough of the other..

you maybe able to get away with a real good flush to rid the medium of the over toxicity problem.. and they may come back...in time..

but the only real way to fix this problem.. is start again really.. prune them back.. put them back to 18/6.. and pour a good amount of water through the pots to leach everything thats in there OUT... use GROW nutes.. until you see some healthy growth starting to form.. then repot in fresh soil and away you go..

or like tom suggests.. start afresh with new soil and clones.. thats probably the better way to go.. as this problem may take a few weeks to correct.. if it corrects at all..

a 2 part nutrient is designed to be used together.. if only using one and not the other then you will have a massive imbalance of nutrients.. which in turn will create and over toxicity in some nutrients and a deficiency in others.. plants need the right balance of everything to grow properly.. and this is one very well learned lesson i would say..

its a pain in the ass.. and my only advice is to tell ya mates to fuck off.. they obviously got NO idea whats going on.. and search these forums.. i am sure you will get a decent grow happening... with the information here.. search for my grow guides.. theyre pretty simple to follow. i think.. even if followed loosely you should be able to get something happening

growing is a pretty in depth exercise and it takes years of trial and error to work shit out.. taking advice is a must.. but you still need to pick out what will work in your situation.. some one might advise you .. on what worked for them.. but that may not necessarily work for you.. each system.. each style.. has its own little differences.. thats where you need to read read and read more.. the best way to get it right is to look at the plant youre growing.. and learn.. how it actually grows.. what it does..

good books to read... Marijuana Botany by R C Clark.. its a botanist guide to how the plant works.. a really indepth read.. but a very good book that you will continue to refer too for many years to come..

another excellent book.. is Mel Franks Growers guide.. it goes into systems, lights.. and deficiencies.. he has an indoor and outdoor guide.. choose whats best for you.. i got the insiders guide.. again.. even after nearly 20 years of indoor service.. i still find my self referring to these 2 books.. in my honest opinion theyre the best books on the market.. as most other books refer to these books ... both of these authors have an excellent understanding of the plant.. they arent just copying what other people say.. they really know their stuff..

Perlite will need maybe 10mins every two hours, or 15mins every 3hrs if you are using an analogue timer. If you are hand watering...well...that may become a tiresome job. B) Read up how to put together a recycling watering system with a res tank - much easier with perlite and not hard at all. If you want to learn hydro then that is a great place to start.

As for the light - around 30-50cms from the top of the plants - trial and error.

my only advice is to tell ya mates to fuck off.. they obviously got NO idea whats going on.. and search these forums.. i am sure you will get a decent grow happening... with the information here.. search for my grow guides.. theyre pretty simple to follow. i think.. even if followed loosely you should be able to get something happening

excellent suggestion...you can't learn this stuff overnight but it's not difficult to understand what is needed when you start to grasp what you are trying to do, which is re-create the perfect environment for the plants. This can sound a lot easier than it is...natures a hard act to follow.

When you say flush with ph adjusted water, what should the ph reading be?

Refer to what Tom told you above...

There is absolutely no humidity in this cabinet! Where does that come from and what should it be at?

Have you got a hygrometer? There will be humidity in there - buy one...$20 on eBay.

I will buy a truncheon thing, but how do you use it properly?

These things are invaluable IMO but they are around $100 so don't get a shock! Bluelab truncheons by NZ hydroponics are simply inserted into the water/nute mix/res and they have little red lights that flash next to the reading level like 1.0 or 1.2 etc...

and yeah...you have to combine the part A and B into water separately. They are bottled individually because the ingredients don't mix well without water. So first add part A then part B to the water rinsing the measuring cup between parts.

Bottle instructions can also tend to be a bit on the strong side generally so halve it then slowly increase if you see dramas.

But I agree with SS that your best friend is reading. Reading all the info on this site and then all the rest.

If you see the same advice a few times then generally that is the right advice.

Grow Hard,

Jimbo B)
