Are seedlings ok with a drip ring system?

Hey.

So today's the big day for my seedlings. They're around 16 days old, each one with 4 leaves, and I'm transplanting them from their rockwool-filled sprouting cups to my GH Waterfarms. Gonna put them in the center of the drip ring in a little patch of rockwool. Got slight nutrients added, and pH at around 6.3. Only thing I'm worried about is the distance between the little guy's roots and the drip ring. There's about a 1.5 inch (4cm) radius around where I think their roots will go and where the ring actually drips. Is this ok? Seems like a long ways to go.

It should only be a problem if you are using clay balls as most other hydroponic mediums spread the nutrients more evenly throughout the pot (plant pot that is), but if you want to move the ring a little closer it won't do any harm, just try and avoid getting the rockwool too wet.

I've been giving the rockwool a good sprinkling a few times a day, and then just letting the drip ring drip where it may. I'll get a timer soon to have it run 1/2 an hour every hour. So far, the sprouts look like they couldn't be happier. They really took off as soon as I got 'em under that 400W HPS.

Thanks for the tips.
