stability? is it available in seed form

Recommended Posts

hey guys

well ive had a gut full of polyhybrids

and the many phenos to be found in them

pretty hit n miss, hard to find a keeper imho

so i was wondering wat strains from wat breeders peeps have found to be stable

stable to me is wen u crack a seed pack and find 2 maybe 3 phenos

that are uniform, look alike smell and taste the same etc?

just after some experiences from others that i can gauge and then make a desicion regarding purchases

do u find stability in big price seeds??

variation can also be good dont get me wrong

but wen u pay top dollar u expect something stable..well i do

all help is appreciated

bil

edit...

often finding the pheno described and pictured as the breeders chosen pheno

is not always easy, and the variation between can often produce a better plant for a seperate individual consumer..

that variation can be fun...

but i ilke to have a choice of 3 phenos max as with a true F1

Well I don't really know about anything but the White Russian, but I can honestly say that out of just half a pack of seeds there was good consistency and 3 distinguishable phenos.

Always the same growth, height smell and stone from the two I kept over a few grows.

I'm not recommending it but mine are definitely consistent.

2-3 phenos isnt at all a stable strain.. its an F1.. well you wont get 2 phenos.. youll always have 3..

when i first started growing.. nearly every strain was stable.. Northern lights, superskunk, White Widow, Red Devil.. theres a few more.. these days not even those strains are 100% reliable..

it seems breeders dont quite finish their strains off to get 100% stable.. its a time consuming task after all..

when ever you see an F1 strain it will have 3 phenos.. a throw back to both of the parents and a cross of the 2... youll mainly have the cross.. about 60%.. but the others will be throw backs to the parents... thats providing they were stable strains to start with.. if they were F1's or F2's who knows what the fuck youre going to end up with...

hopefully.. in my white heaven seeding thread.. ive stabilized the strain 100%.. tests will show soon enough... and if those test ring true.. its an easy way to stabilize any pheno you want to keep...

yea billo it would be bloody marvellous to find a stable strain that breeds true and i would pay big money to get a good one, in my limited experience ive had some(3) bubblegum from serious and found they were all looking identical but only ended up growing one ... maybe thats no surprise as serious claims the bg is totally inbred

I guess the few IBL's surely must breed true but then again ive never tried them either ... ive been really dissapointed with Sensi after growing their most stable strain i got 2 completely different plants which are still growing out but thats no bloody good either cause neither of them look anything special at all !

as for doing it yourself i have neither the space or time to do it plus its not easily done, but would be much easier to just buy something some else has done all that work ..

^_^

EDIT: what about the Celtic stones, a few here have grown them out :D are they stable, uniform true breeding or what?

you are after landrace and back crossed strains which are hard to come by these days ;) but if you can get your hands on some thai, afghan or african strains from the places themself you should end up getting some really stable seeds. i personally dont trust seedbanks, but you might be able to order those genetics without going to the country of origin, i just wouldnt count on them being stable :D

alternatively you could get some strains like pineapple c99 F5 which has been back crossed to the original mother many times to increase the stability of the strain. but you have to be careful when ordering strains that are F2, F3, etc. because alot of breeders seem to label the next generation of seeds the same as they do back crosses ^_^ a back crossed strain will be fairly stable because it makes the genes of the seeds closer to the original parent, but imbred strains can actually cause more phenos to surface unless the breeder constantly looks for the same phenos to breed with in which case you'll still end up with a heap of simular phenos, but each will still be different in their own way ;)

wat strains are known to be stable?

does the high price bring uniform plants?

all the strains i grow of late have all produced phenos galore

basically the old sckool strains that where uniform and stable to be bred with

are just not available..the versions today are just watered down shadows..

i am contomplaiting some beans from shanti and MR NICE SEEDS..

has anybody any experience with these crew?and are there strains stable or mainly F1s?

is seeds from sam the skunkman a good avenue?

well the saying "you get what you pay for" is ringing true isnt it..

i think with most of the feminized seed range youll have a stable strain.. the way they do feminized seeds is by spraying gibrellic acid on a branch of a female clone.. turning that branch male but with only the female chromosome.. this way the seeds will be an exact replica of the clone they came from..

so i think if you stick with a reputable seed bank that does femimized seeds youll probably be right..

mate bought some bubble gum from serious seeds and they seem to be fairly stable from what ive seen..

the issue he had.. was the package came with SERIOUS SEEDS AMSTERDAM written on the box.. one box was delivered with a customs note.. he then rang them.. at like 1am... or something stoopid.. to explain what had happened.. they replaced the seeds no worries..

might pay to give them a call when you order them to get them to package them a lot more discretely..

but i think all in all he was very happy with the seeds from them.. lol
