A question on acting to stop a male infestation.

Recommended Posts

Whilst there are a plethora of topics depicting male plants and how to avoid hermi's by getting rid of them, in my research I have been unable to find any information on how fast one must act once early signs of male flowering is spotted (Well I didn't research it, so much as watch re-runs of Family Guy).

So, the question is what kind of time limit are we looking at before nearby female plants could be pollinated by a male that has only just began to show signs of flowering?

and is it possible to move any male plants around the corner of my house, well away from the females without them pollinating them? Or should I just uproot the bastards? Any suggestions?

I am very new to growing, and I would be very greatfull for any information you might have.

Cheers

when the plants are turned to flower.. the male plant will mature at a much faster rate than a female plants.. this so the male plant is mature enough to be nearing its cycle... ie.. dropping pollen.. right when the female is ready to accept it.. clever little beavers arent they... most males will be ready to drop pollen at around the 3-4 weeks of flowering... this allows the females to finish in time for the seeds to mature.. seeds take around 4-6 weeks to reach maturation and are ready when you literally see them popping out of their husks..
