Dope and Driving

While working at Savage River Mines as a Pit Breakdown Fitter

I got to know many people that smoked before, during and after work.

It always amazed me that they were the ones who had very few accidents, breakdowns during shift and yielded the best tonnages per shift operating machinery such as cat777 trucks, 33-11 terex trucks, P&H 280ton Electric Face Shovels and most of the other heavy mining equipment used in that place.

If anything it was the nonsmokers who got into fights, crashed heavy equipment, broke down more often and produced less tonnage per shift.

The smokers could not let the others know for fear of losing their jobs

With the introduction of random drug tests most left their jobs in heavy industry, leaving behind those less productive straights.

Good on the makers of that film about time someone proved its safe for most people :bongon:
who is safer.... a road raged executive weaving between traffic in his SUV cause he's late for a meeting or a stoner cruising in the slow lane. Traffic control should be based on safety risks and policing should be focused on factors which cause accidents.

Smoking pot has not been shown to be any kind of problem in terms of road safety and therefore should not be policed on the roads. Its as simple as that. There may not be much I can do about it, but I don't agree with it, or accept it.

<br Pipeman,

I'm with you Dude.

There are so many bad drivers out there. Impaired by inattention, inexperience, and worst...old age. My father (may he rest in peace) was a lousy driver all his life and as he aged, it became even worse. He was a stubborn German and refused to give up his license till he was 85 and could barely walk to his car. I feared for his life and everyone on the road when I knew he was out there.

There's such a duality about DUI. It's against the law and yet everyone knows that there's a bars full of drinkers everywhere that are going to get in their cars and drive home, at night, under the infuluence, at closing time.

Tarnicus, I thought about something I saw in Ciudad Oaxoaxa, MX when I read your post on stoned walking. Just northeast of the Zocalo is a park with a pedistrian traffic circle that includes direction signs and everything. Apparently they've been having a rash of stoned walkers there and are hoping that the signs would reduce the number of low speed pedistrian collisions.

Cheers,

Dee

That's funny Dee :bongon: Such a pedestrian traffic circle would also come in REALLY HANDY for more than a few street corners in Amsterdam - what with us blazed-out Aussies trying to navigate the endless canals while dodging locals and tourists on bicycles :toke:

Sticking to the speed limit is the hard thing. I am always about 20k/hr under. B)

Most people including littlbit will not get in a car with me if I have not had a choof. My variant of aspergers makes me a very aggressive driver when NOT medicated, Cannabis is the only thing that can keep me to the speed limit and not aggressive on the road.

Even when medicated I am not very patient of most people at most times but especially on the road, and am still considered fairly aggressive in my driving style, If you look up "Road Rage" in the dictionary you will find a picture of me un-medicated.

So the bastards can have me medicated and at the speed limit or aggressive and not,

They should choose VERY CAREFULLY!!!!!
