I think I have found out a way to lower the EC of your tap water if it is bad. Instead of having the tap blasting water out at high pressure, simply only turn the tap a little so the water runs out very slowly. Doing this over the last couple of days, I have found the EC of my tap water has dropped from 0.8 to 0.4.

 

I assume this is because using the tap at high pressure will also blast out a lot of crap that is built up on the inside of the pipes. The downside is it will take a lot longer to get your water or fill your containers etc.

 

But try it and see if it works for you...

Some of that will be due to the chlorine evaporating out of the water.

I doubt it would account for that much though. Cl is usually added in the tens of ppm, not hundreds that .4 e.c. represents.

 

I have a feeling this would be more to do with this persons tap supply lines than the water itself.

the chlorine from tap water should be 0.80 - 1.20 ppm of free CL2 under the Australian drinking water guide lines act of 2004 , thats not total Chlorine
