ok guys...stupid question time...

let me first admit that my growing experience is limited...i used to pot my plants up and forget them, with only minimal checking....i probably missed out on recognising early veg/flowering indicators by doing this.....so please forgive me if my questions appear stupid, the terminology is not "technically correct" and if the answers are obvious.... :P

anyhow, here goes....

i have a late grow happening outdoors, at the moment unprotected, but when serious cooler temps arrive, they are going into a greenhouse....for now, days are warm and growth, while a bit slowerl, is going well....

these babies are a few weeks old and from bottom right to bottom middle are purple sat...and from bottom left to top right are afghani x blue hen.....

and the bottom and top left plants, are showing a grouping of preflower, pear shaped growths, without any signs of new leaf growth.....

my apologies for the crappy photo, but can't get any closer than that...

all were germed at the same time, all are same age....

so basically i was wondering why the purple sat is showing hairs at this very early stage and what the hell is going on with the afghani x blue hen( are they male?)....

i have looked at all of them through a 10x loupe and can see no other indicators of sex...

thanks again in advance for your help guys, and again my apologies if i have just asked the most ridiculous questions...

cheers

I have got even less experience than you (ie virtually none) but isn't this the time of year when the days are shortening up and the outdoor plants are flowering? So if you've just got seedlings recently you are effectively force flowering them from having them outside...

You need to get them into larger pots and a better draining potting mix (yesterday), one of the soil growers can probably recommend a brand for you, the plants with the pale leaves look as if they may have had a little too much water.

bacchus- i grow od i agree with tom, it looks like you been givin them a little too much lovin... too much water in potting mix causes all the heavies to settle in the bottom of youre pot, (always trouble) can't help u out on brand of potting mix (make my own) also if there has been too much h20 going through pot, nutrients leech out real quick (i know weve had alot of rain) if the potting mix is a bit on the green side it will be sucking out all the nitrogen eg the ratio of of carbon to nitrogen in wood chip is bout 450:1 (bout the worst) if there isnt enough nitro supply the breakdown process will steal it from the plants supply, also to rectify potting mix, there is an excellent product by the name of hydroflo, keeps the water draining nicely, hope this helps?

What Sols and Pipeman said.

This isnt the time of year to be starting an outdoor grow in the southern hemisphere, even if you put them in a greenhouse it wont make a difference.

Growth rate (vegetation) and blooming (producing buds) is governed by the length of light and dark periods the plants receive.

Your plants will still produce bud as they are doing now, but from your pics, it looks like your only going to get one big bud from each plant. This is how SOG is done.

Because of the reduced daylight hours, your plants have stopped vegging and are now concentrating on growing buds so dont expect a lot to smoke.

You could put them indoors under artificial light to start them vegging again but it takes a few weeks before they turn around. IMHO you'd be better off letting them grow and starting indoors with new clones otherwise you'll just have to wait till next September to start growing outdoors again.
