CO2 works best when applied in a controlled means. Hard to tell what you get from things like this.

Not sure why you'd put any CO2 enrichment onto the root zone of a plant- CO2 is used by the leaves in photosynthesis, but roots like as much oxygen as they can get and still remain damp.

CO2 is heavier than air, so it's not going to rise up to the leaves.

It's also mighty expensive for something that may or may not deliver any added result.

I think I'd give this a miss.

CO2 ENRICHA comes with a bottle and dripper hose with adjustable flow the baking soda is a back yard job but will probably work just aswell if u look hard enough on these boards a bloke has all the calculations of making a good home made CO2 job think he was using shit to make beer even tho i didnt understand his calculations he sounded technical :)

All I've ever done is made a hole in the top of the grow box, ran a plastic tube through it to a hole in the top of a milk jug. Filled the jug half way with warm water and dissolved as much sugar in it as possible, then added a packet of bread yeast and shook it up! The heat from the lights keeps the yeast active and as it eats the sugar it makes CO2! Lasts for about a week then you add more water and sugar. Smells a little boozy but it works really well.

Sounds like CO2 ENRICHA is really nothing more than a baking soda & vinegar (or other cheap acid) setup with a fancy label and a fancier price. You could surely replicate it for under $5 and some plastic tubs/bottles rescued from the recycling bin.

I like the yeast method, but I wonder which of these two simple methods will make the most CO2.

Dr Karl? Adam & Jamie? You guys busy? :P

To be completely exact one would have to take into consideration the size of the area, as well as the size and age of the plants, and since the size of the plants changes as the grow progresses, it would be more technical than is worth the bother.

Some is better than none, and too much goes wasted.

So to avoid yet another measurement to have to worry about, I find it easiest to just fill the jug (which seems to be enough for the size, in my case) and give them some. Some strains make better use of CO2 than others. Side by side White Rhino will show greatly enhanced growth, while Train Wreck will show half of what WhRh has benefited.

And if properly fed and cared for the yeast will continue to reproduce much like a sour dough starter. One could even after a week or 2 split the liguid into 2 jugs and run 2 hoses and in that way the CO2 will keep up with the plant growth.

All that needs to be purchased is the sugar which can be found sometimes for free in the broken bags the grocery stores have to throw away. I got about 20 pounds that way once! I've also carted away boxes of spoiled produce for my compost for free all you have to do is ask, the worse that can happen is they tell you they can't.
