Keeping airstones at bottom of Reservoir

If you can't find stainless cored bubble curtains, PM me. I have 4-5 on hand I'm not using. About $10/ea.

hmm i'm cynical by nature but am i sensing an ulterior motive here, not using or for sale in your hydro supply biz?

I've tried almost every stone on the market, stainless steel, wooden, plastic, ceramic etc etc.

In my exp the best are the round air discs, beside their durability they produce the finest an most amount of bubbles an get the biggest an best rootballs. The little green thing you can see at bottom right hand side of the rootball is an airdisc that's been completely consumed by the roots.

I CAN get these from my whse, but the reason I'm talking about them is because they're the ones I've used for years... and the main reason I use them is because they don't float- which is what this thread's about, is it not?

No fucking idea! It'd be in the squillions. B) The things are 520mm long x 12mm dia. The inner core is a tube made of woven stainless wire and covered with a very finely porous foam cover. It makes a literal curtain of very fine bubbles. Should I put a vid on YouTube?

Talking about them as well as offering them for sale, oh just being helpful my bad, has nothing to do with flogging your wares

Yes the point of the thread is how to keep the airstones from floating in a DWC set-up, not in rezzys or other types of systems but specifically DWC which cudgel, the thread starter, will be using. I think also the purpose is to advise the best non-floating airstones again for DWC, an they definitely aint the curtains. I got 4 or 5 bubble curtains on me balcony with all my other useless crap that cudgel can have for free if he really wants to use an inferior product for DWC.

You-Tube away an while your at it do a side by side comparison with an air-disc cuz i Couldn't B. Fuct .

Air discs are the shit for DWC, Although I can\'t say i\'ve used the \"air curtains\" above. Personally I run 8 discs per 80lt tubbler, held down by sealant. Sealley\'s does a good one designed for use with aquariums. The plastic orange \'base\' stops them from breaking up like regular air stones.

Plywood will probably make areal mess in there when it\'s wet and starts to rot < very short term. I tink the tubes of sealant are only $10-12

Hope this helps , good luck

ha ha ha Al dont think you gotta sell the dinghy just yet...

Might not be much of an earn in selling stuff thru peeps threads oops sorry "kindly offering stuff that your not using" but it would add up.

Maybe a little bit of transparency, something i think your familiar with given your previous posts on Govt, Law and Media would go a long way...

Got no beef with ya mate, you come across as a pretty cluey bloke but when you start to sound like a hydro shop owner tryin to sell what's in store an in stock rather than recommend the right product it;s a bit lame.

Maybe registering your biz (if it;s not already) an paying to advertise here would do more to alleviate the distrust an spamming issues.

Wish you all the best with the porsche.

Al B. Fuct:

Never floats. Never disintegrates or corrodes. I've had some like these in tanks for 4 years at a stretch.

I will be trying these out, Al B. fuct, thanks for the picture too, but cant say I have seen them for sale.

I will be trying these out Chato, thanks man, I just love recommendations from experienced users of a product. Can you post a picture of them though, cant say I know exactly what you mean, and I sure can't see it clearly through that enormous root ball. ;) Are they ceramic? Ahh, a picture will clear things up I'm hoping.

Luke Skywalker:

Ceramic stones last a lot longer than their equivalent sandstone types too.

Never had trouble with airstones doing more than bump a bit in the bottom of the pot, never floated before....

I have never seen ceramic airstones, either. The usual places stock them? I will look in Aquarium related shops for them. Just to clarify here, I didn't mean to imply that I have floating airstones. Nope, I only thought they might float...or at least move out of position. Here is a quick look in the under_construction_ bubbler.

Well that is good news, RunTHC, are you saying that this sealant is non-toxic, and it wont hurt the plants? (several types of sealant do kill fish, I know). Can you post a pic of this sealant by any chance?
