hulio
Is it ok or can you transplant plants from small pots of coco coir to larger 30 or 50 litre pots. Or if not how can i without using soil. will need to transplant to a recirculation sattelite system.
WantDaChronic
it can be done no problems, just make sure you give the plant a good watering after the transplant
loylty gets u nothing
coco in a recirculating system??that will or may create all sorts of dramascoco is really suited to a run to waste medium imhoi like to water em right in wen i transplanti find a good soaking with adequate drainagehelps the roots settle with less stressjust be sure to make sure the plant is watered before u remove it from its potthis will help the medium stay clumped together and not ripp ant rootsall the best but id have a look at another medium for recirculating tbhbil
bufo marinus
Recirculating coco, like bil said there are other options I have fiddled with a recirc coco before, it can be done, but it is a bit of a contradictionIf you are giving it a try, you may need to add some H202 to try keep the root zone sterile to avoid Pythium problems OR some beneficial bacteria to work in conjunction with the healthy bacteria that is present in coco. It's sort of like good clean dirt that you can use hydro nutrients onDon't over water it, contrary to what people may tell you, coco can be overwateredWater it once a day, two at peak flowering and as long as the solution can drain off, ie run to waste, then the coco will blow you away with the growth rate
hulio
I think i might swap to a run to waste on my next run. ive been reading this book thats pulled me into line a bit called integral hydroponics. the bloke who wrote it says run to waste is the best. Can i put a bit of perlite or expanded clay in with the coir to airate it a bit? or will this make it harder to transplant?
loylty gets u nothing
yep perlite and coco are a great comboand actualy my medium of choicei have about 1inch of clayballs in the bottom of the potsaids the drainage..i also like to rest mine on an angle after wateringthis removes alot more water and enables more frequant wateringsalso with coco u dont need the huge pots for a good yield, imhou will be suprised at the growth rate and root size in cocoi find 300mm pots sufficient for flowering out,and yield from 2-5 oz per potsame as the 15 ltr square buckets from crazy clarks..all the bestbil integral hydroponics is a great bookwritten by an aussie for australia..some great info in theremaybe do the clone run as describbed in the bookhe breaks it down to very easy to read and understand imoall the best
hulio
Ive got 300mm pots but i was hoping to get at least a pound from each. How many weeks veg do you allow?
420Downunder
Ive got 300mm pots but i was hoping to get at least a pound from each. How many weeks veg do you allow?A pound per 300mm pot? Hardly. I veg for 2-3 months and top several times and the best I've managed under 1000w hps is 7oz with an average of 4-5 per pot/plant. I can't imagine an indoor plant giving a pound under normal circumstances. Edited August 18, 2007 by 420Downunder
