I have no buds at 8th week...

Recommended Posts

Hang on, why are you pulling air from outside the house?

In order to keep the level of stealth that was required, the intake runs from the external wall that is the left side of the cupboard. It is invisible from outside the house and is positioned under my grow in the res/ballast area and turns 90degrees to exit in the floor of the grow chamber. It is short but effective - too effective! It is a passive 250mm hole, ducted to the chamber screened with stockings as bug catchers. All I have to do is vacuum them occasionally.

I also thought that the high altitude air would be great. Cool and clean. I was more concerned about overheating rather than the prospect of it being too cold. This is why I've been tempted to try an additional light in there after this grow to see if it can handle 2 bulbs. With the intake of such cold air - which on average is -2 to 5C this week, I'm thinking it might be possible... :D

So it turns out that I will probably have to sacrifice some stealth and run the intake from within the homes walls.

are you doing a reverse night/day? Say lights on at 10 pm and off at 10am?

Yeah, I have right from the start. The new addition of a column oil heater - which I hung from the ceiling - runs full bore during lights out and manages to get the temps up around 15-18C. But I didn't catch on to this drama for the first 4 weeks of flower, :) as I'm usually at work when it's lights off and I didn't check the memory stats often enough.

if you absolutely positively have to shut off the fan, run it for a good 1/2 hr after the lights go out and this will help mitigate any condensation and massive rise in humidity.

I can't - it drops the temps on satans head. :D within minutes. I will have to get a digital timer for the fan so I can set 1min bursts. I'm only using an analogue one atm as it was doing fine up until Jack Frost kicked the door in.

The intake air is on average 90% relative humidity atm so the drier air from the fireplaces would probably be better huh?

Strange though that the front three girls have ok buds - could be better but I did kick em' around a fair bit.

I'm considering changing the shade next grow. I thought the chinas were the best but now I'm not sure.

Jimbo :)

Why is the oil heater hanging up in the air! Should be as low as possible to drift up through the GR...

The prob with not venting is the humidity. Check what humidity levels are just after lights out and I bet they skyrocket.

If humidity is regularly high and spikes to dew point you'll be asking for it. You just need more heat. Get a little electric fan heater, most have thermostats now.... You should be able to fit it into the area near the ducting... perhaps just pulling air from around under the room might have to be the go for the moment.

Not a prob that most come across, (although I'm having some coolish temp probs with my cool tube room this year)

Perhaps reduce the size of the intake a bit? Block off a section?

hmm... it's a doozy. But yeah, the humidity spike is probably what's causing the growth to be so long and stretchy.

Yeah the idea of a fan heater was debated upon but we decided against it because they are just too much of a fire hazard when left unsupervised. I agree that the best position for the heater is as low as possible but the only spot it would fit was hanging from the roof! It's not ideal but it is getting the job done.

I'll check the humidity levels but I'm sure that they are sitting below 50% at most times.

I've approached the missus about shifting the intake so we can use the warm house air...but I'll have to be a damn good boy if you know what I mean... :D

Thanks for your help Luke.

:D!

A small door vent would do the job nicely I should think. Wouldn't have to be that big... oh say 150mm x 50mm or so? Bigger the better of course but you can certainly set up an active intake if it helps too....

Good luck mate, keep us updated on how they're going.... :D

:D that reminds me Jimbo..a few months back a mate asked me to come and have a look at his grow..his problem was that after 6 or a tad more weeks the plants had shown very little sign of flowering.. :D

anyhow after him telling me he runs a 1000 and 4 x 400 with 4 plants, I grabbed my camera and headed out for a look.. :D

well he opened the door and here is my first pic. post-1074-1182944193_thumb.jpg

Im thinking .. :) fuck, this is nice.. post-1074-1182943318_thumb.jpg

post-1074-1182943427_thumb.jpg so much growth for 4 plants

post-1074-1182943514_thumb.jpg not very healthy hey..

I asked every question like , timers..light leakes, strain ,? etc..spoke to a few in chat and also spoke to a few members at MG about it.. :) not sure..

to cut a long story short he decided after I took these pics to put the plants in pots in soil outside and hope they may finish off, but thats another story :) .. anyhow he stated from fresh a week later with 4 CS clones that I donated to him as I could not believe that this guy is 10 years older than me.. B) and guys, thats fucking old. :) he was older than some of you young bloke's Grandfathers.. he's unreal..

I got a pic this week of them post-1074-1182945567_thumb.jpg just on 3 weeks he reckons..

he had grown a number of times sucessfully in the past, so it was a total shock to him ???

anyone got ideas on this one also...
