I have no buds at 8th week...

Recommended Posts

Heya Jimbo  .. im sorry your babes arent all you expected but i think you can only get better ...

im not right up on your setup but if you got 6 plants under 6-700 watts ... well imho that amount of light would give a greater yeild from 2 plants in a large-ish wardrobe ... im the first to admit that i absolutely drown my plants in light, i mean so bright it hurts ya eyes and the electricity meter is spinning so hard its starting to glow red ... well maybe thats a little overboard but you know that MJ needs really intense light ... even then i too have had the odd spindly one but its only one and i usually put that down to a one off bad genetics ...

i would be surprised with such fine genetics you are growing that you havent had exceptional plants ... its certainly a bit of a mystery

then again i may have it all arse about :xcited:

from a real quick look i would lamost say that there is not enough light getting through your top canopy and hence little or stunted growth under the top buds, in one of the pics it looks almost dark in under there, the easy answers to this are dont do as many plants / place them strategicly and tie / train them, and you can also take some of the big leaves of the top canopy to let a bit of light through to the lower parts of the plants, doing this is going to encourage all the lower leaves to grow so you will end up fair forest of leaves down there if you do do this and you will more than likley have to keep trimming them every now and then, seems like once you strart its a job that just keeps on going and going.

again im being a bit slack as im not at all up with your grow but what nutes are you using / how strong, could be a combination of things but in general i would say like frazzle above probally a lack of light or at least a lack of light getting to the plants where they need it, all the same though i use a 400w in a wardrobe and depending on the strain it seems to be enough light, while i could always do woth more light 400 is enough for 2 plants aiming at around 4/8 oz per plant, so i would say drop back to 4 plants, not sure if i would do it now or next grow but same space 4 plants should be good use of space and good use of light, in general again most plants will try to grow out to fill the space that they have any way and in a confined area lower numbers will quite often yeild more as there is less compitition for the light / co2 / any thing else the plants use, any way i must be pretty stoned as im rambling so i will leave it here for now and see what a few others think and let them correct me from here, all the best with it all the same.

what nutes are you using / how strong

There is nothing wrong with the nute setup or the ph levels. Canna has been used right through.

Just wondering if those 3 are near the intake air duct

Well the intake is situated in the middle of all of them so they all get the same amount. The heater has brought the nighttime temps up to 16C - as good as I can get while the intake sucks in -5C!

It must be the light as mentioned cause if I can't see them without a chainsaw then I doubt the light can get there either...

Always next time...

Hard to tell from the pics but heres some tips

1. Are you growing in pots ? if so rotate them often so they all grow the same size especially if one part of your grow box produces better growth and investigate why they grow better in that section ( is the light centered ? to much cold air ? perhaps )

2 You may be suffering from "hot spot" this is where the plant still thinks its summer because the heat from the lamp is too great resulting in continued growth upwards and fuck all head growth - remedy is to install a small fan that blows gently across the tops of the plants as they grow ( this will also strengthen the stems ) or exhaust the heat from the light more effeciently ( ducting etc )

3 Sounds a bit cold in there does your intake fan need to blow cold air in or can u get a natural air flow going from the rising hot air sucking fresh air in throught the vent ? My top extraction fan sits directly above the light and even if the fan stops the heat will still rise thru the vent and will draw cold air thru the bottom one ( if your box is airtight ) - try shortening your fan cycles maybe to increase heat , make a shelf for your ballast in there ( its a cheap heat source ) if needed or wrap some insulation round the outside ( doona . sarking etc )

4 Dont be tempted to throw in extra chems it wont help loving them to death is the downfall of many a stoner

rotate them often

Can't...it's a scrog.

You may be suffering from "hot spot"

Nah temps are good with light on - 26C

I haver a oil column heater on during lights off and temps are 16C max. Intake is passive from outside the home -- and the temps out there are -4C. Exhaust fan isn't on at all during lights off.

Dont be tempted to throw in extra chems

Nah I'm not - they only have 4 days till final flush.

You'll cause yourself no end of grief without lights off ventilation...

Checked for light leakage?

I can't run the fan at all during lights off - it drops the temps to <10C as the air coming in is -4C or worse...

Until I can figure out how to get the air from the house which sits at 20C that's the best I can do. I concentrated on making sure that the cupboard was not going to get too hot and didn't stop for a second to think it might get too cold! It's a much harder situation to correct.

There is no light leakage.

Can you put the heater before the intake perhaps?

You need ventilation during lights out, particularly when you're going from the 20's centigrade to the negatives between lights on and off. Those temps are horrendous though, and it's no doubt your hugest problem. are you doing a reverse night/day? Say lights on at 10 pm and off at 10am?

A fan in the room will be a help, but if you absolutely positively have to shut off the fan, run it for a good 1/2 hr after the lights go out and this will help mitigate any condensation and massive rise in humidity. This could be a large part of the effects you're seeing here.

Hang on, why are you pulling air from outside the house? :D
