leaf deformations

Recommended Posts

heya everybody,

i,ve rcently taken a few big bud clones and used them on a wanna be aeroponics grow. but all the leaves on all the plants only have 3 fingers and they are approx 25cm high  is this due to overcloning or growing conditions maybe something else.........

:bandit: All plants start with a single finger or ocasionaly 3. As they grow this will increase to 5 then 7 then 9 and up to 15 in some cases, although 7-11 is the norm. Clones and revegative growth will revert back to this single leaf and then work their way back up in number again. It is nothing to worry about, it's normal.

 Peace MongyMan

my white rhino went through a 3 blade phase for months and it had me totally flipped out. everything about the plant was as it should be, bud size, yield, resin content, etc. the only thing out of place was 3 bladed leaves for every single leaf until the very last leaves were made which came out single bladed :punk:

i think i found out what happened too, i was cloning my plants too regularly before they could get any major growth on them :) if you have started off mj from seed you'll notice as the number of blades on the shade leaves get higher with every passing node, so does the blades on the leaf growing from branches coming out of the nodes. while topping doesnt make a seedling stay at that 3, 5 or what ever blade number you are upto at the time, it does stall the progression by a couple of nodes on average from what i have seen and the damage can be double or triple that with cuttings  based on that i decided to let a single white rhino vege for a few months and low and behold it started putting out 5 blades leaves :)

after a few 5 blades leaf nodes, i took a major batch of cuttings and they all reverted back to 3 bladed leaf, but only for 2 to 3 nodes each before going back to 5's ;) couple of months later they were growing 7's and 9's no problems and while the cuttings always reverted back, from then on they always came back really well :bandit:
