PH levels....

Does anyone ever have a problem getting their PH down. I bought advanced nutrients PH down and its supposed to be very concentrated. The guy told me to add just a few drops really to bring it down.

 

My PH is at 7 atm, and ive added probably 20 drops and it has hardly gone down. Anyone got any advice for me? Or should i just keep adding the acid. Thanks

Ive had a tank do that and stupid me had my meter on hold setting ......

 

Get a syringe and measure the amount a few mls per 10 litres should have a change. help when you get your tank set from straight water as you know how much to put in.

have and are u diluting the ph down?

i dilute maybe 5mls of concentrate

to 2 ltr water and find i some times have to add close to 500mls of the dilute mix

to get the ph down especially after using some silica

I use it diluted too, better if you put too much in!

Try some adjuster in some fresh water to check whether it is the ph down or the nutes it is mixing with that is the problem.

Size of the res will definitely be an influence.

in 40lts of water i use a lid full to bring it from 7 something down to about 6.2.

My res is 65 gallons so its a rather large body of water. Also using Monkey Juice nutes Edited June 10, 2007 by yota

If ya rez is 65gal (260lts/ 4lts = 1gal, i think) it will take a bit of the ph down to change the ph of the water because u have so much water there...

in that type of res ya would need a fair bit so ya will be going through it fairly quickly and that shit cost ya money

 

do what i do and use citric acid for ph down and bicarb for ph up both work really well are cheap as and dont harm ya plants
