Im going to be using 10litre bucks with a pump this size how many bucks will it safely do??

I have been using this style for ages nowUnistar 4 outlet air pump , they are cheap @ $29.00 PP, for a 4 outlet pump , i usually order 2 at a time for about $65 all up , but the same pump in the shops around here is $65 each . Actually i have 2 still sitting here new in the box from last year , only bought em as spares .

Also on your air stone question , i prefer to get the biggest air stones i can find , they have square plastic edges on them so they don't make as much noise on the bottom of my tubs when the air pumps flat out .

I think they were made by Aqua one , but kid find a picture for you , they wernt cheap , but theyre easy to clean

EDIT , just found them cheaper on E bay , search for AC9904 9L/min

hey mate hook up 4 bubblers to it and see what it does, but remember ya need more airstones than just the buckets. You running a control bucket and res? Its a good idea to give them an airstone each as well.

I suggest you look for an aco air compressor. They produce way more air than the average aquarium style air pump. My local pet store just happened to have them when I was looking for an airpump. The one in the pic is an aco002, was under $50, and could easily do 10 buckets I reckon. You can buy airline gangvalves to split up the airlines if you don't have enough outlets, and if you don't need all the outlets, connect the spare ones to each other like you see I've done with two in the pic, really helps to cut down the noise. lol

My greatest fear about DWC/bubblers is root drowning if a pump quits or if there is an extended power failure (more than 2-3 hours). Anyone know exactly how long roots can go without problems if the air feed quits?

I've got an uninterruptible power supply that will run my PC, CRT monitor & everything else for about 30 mins. Cost about $130 from Jaycar. It'd probably run an air pump for several hours. Wondering if that might be a useful thing in a DWC op to back up the air pump.

I don't think its that critical, I have had plants sitting in buckets of water with no power for days and they were still healthy. If you have an extended power outage you could reduce the water level in your buckets to half way and replace the water every 6 hours with some oxyplus in the mix to reduce the risk of rot. It would be a pretty rare occurance tho, blackouts are fairly rare these days aren't they? :peace:
