Hollow stems

Recommended Posts

Hey all, i just took some clones of my durban x skunk 9 weeks into flower, i know its a bit late but thought i'd see how it goes and noticed the stems are faily hollow. My cupboard is holding most of the buds up so the stems arn't that strong, but wtf is this ok

Probly nuthin 2 worry about mate :bleh:

If you took clones from the mum then she woulda already had hollow stems most likely .. Its just what happens .. altho , to have hollow stems on the top shoots .. not sure , haven't taken many clones ...

If they are healthy and keep living then I wouldn't worry ..

oh yeh , heheh 9 weeks into flower??? ... wtf man? ... bad time to take em Imo .. B)

Nah , normally you would take clones before flowering ..

They could then ofc have hollow stems in the top growth .. but what then? .. you gonna re-veg em?? .. you've just wasted the your main Bud yeilding points ..

Let us know how it goes tho .. :bleh:

Hollow stems are normal, no probs there, it's more noticable on some strains than others.

Taking clones that far into flower is painful but not impossible, will probably take a little longer to root and then another couple of weeks to revert to veg growth.. the plants you get once they reveg will be bizarre shapes, because instead of a central stem with branches coming off, you'll get several 'central' stems coming out of a sort of nodule.. makes for short bushy plants.. brilliant for SCROG or side lighting.

This is the only pic I have kept that sort of shows the effect.

Thanks for the reply's Budman and Doper. The clones were taken from the bottom growth so no chopped colas. Ok hollow stems are alright sweet. But none of that matters now as i fried my clones being to close to the fluro on the first night. It was only an experiment as a friend wanted clones so i said i'd give it a try. And i log on today to find postmans little thread on cloning and his are thriving, oh well. Till next time lol
