Controlling stretch?

Recommended Posts

Allo allo. I've got a cupboard grow going into week 4 of flower and the girls are 30cm from my 600w cool tube at its highest point. Can anyone recommend a product that will slow down the vertical growth or is it too late in flower for any benefit ( 4 weeks to go). Plus anything that will help next time, apart from genetics......cheers

your "stretch" is a pretty important part of the flowering process... usually the initial stretch will last about 3-4 weeks.. depending on strain... plants do this to ensure theres enough space to house the buds...

most plants will triple in size before its finished flowering... so if your plant is 1 foot high when it starts to flower it will be at least 3 feet in height when its finished

to control the initial stretch yuo can tie the branches down.. or kink them.. this will allow the plant to spread out.. also increases budding sites.. increasing yield...

at 4 weeks.. i would say its going to stretch as much as its going to... it will still get a little taller.. but not much... tying it down now might be too late... how ever if the buds haven't really formed yet you could still tie the branches down...

Yeah, already at week 4 of flowering I'd say they ain't going to get much taller now. Just remember next cupboard grow to maybe tie them down or kink them as ss suggested.

There are products you can buy from your local hydro store that will stop the stretch, but I'd go au natural if you can. Happy growing!!

Hey NEO I started indoor growing in an under bench set up and used to control stretch by using small screens and measurement.

Tipped and vegged under fluoro clones would be put to 12/12 at 200mm high at even height through a screen. They had another 400mm to grow in before they reached the glass below the light. Only ever had to tie sideways and tip Jack Herer, the rest came up nicely as colas in that space. :peace:
