Sexing a Female With Multiple Male Polen

Hi All, abc123 reporting.. but personal issues aside.. i have an interesting question

 

Example:

 

Say we have a nice Big Bitch.. good few flower sites.. she goes into flower and is hanging for a root (some sex).. now out of no where Mr God Comes along and chucks a few polen sacked loaded plastic bags over all her flowers.. Now heres the twist.. Each of those Polen Filled Bags come from Totally Differant Strains.. What would be the results of the Off Spring..???

 

Say the Female Was uhmm Skunk.. and one of the Bottom Pollen Filled Bags was BlueBerry.. and say the a Middle Branch was Haze.. and say one of the Top branches was White Widow..

 

Are the Results the Obvious.. That i can get multiple Crosses Using one Female..? or is it more complicated than that

while doing that will allow you to make multiple hybrids from the one plant, you cant really ensure that each bud only gets pollinated by the bag you place over it pollen has a tendency to move with air flow so while the majority of the seeds you create will be what you wanted, you'll more than likely get a few other hybrids made as well

In thoery yes you will but as WDC said it is near impossible to ensure that the pollen from one branch doesn't also pollinated flowers on another branch. If you have an extra special female though I'd still do it. Most of the seed will be the cross you want and in alot of cases an odd seed out will show when the seeds are grown.

That is an interesting Question .. Not something i've thought about for a while ..

Can a Plant take on more than one set of differening Genes? .. (multiple DNA?) ..

Does the Breeding/seeding process only occur within the seedpod (Calyx) or is there a change throughout the whole plant?

Hmm , that raises a few more questions , but Hopefully ya get me ..

 

Ofc , I think the best way would be to take 3 Clones and seed them seperatly with the 3 different Males strains ..

Yes budman, not a problem, a single female plant can be pollinated by many different males.Unless you mean can one individual seed contain genes from more than one male in which case the answer is no.

It is only in the seed pod, The female flower supplies 1/2 the genes in a seed, the male pollen the other half. It is possible to have two female flowers next to each other on a plant yet pollinated by different males that grow seeds with very different genetics.

I agree budman as it is the only way to ensure a true breeding line.

I suspected that would be the case .. Thx for summing it up for me

 

I intend to look further into the Breeding and genetics side of things .. But thats a little way off yet , as right now I'm just happy growing from Female clones while I can

 

SO what about this tho ... could it be possible to fertilize a single female flower with 2 types of male pollen at once , effectivly creating a sort of "combined Twin" seed? .. I know you said the answer is no , but is it Mongy? .. is it? ..

or is that too Sci-fi? ..

Although if it were possible it would have to have a GM consumer information label I spose people wouldn't wanna smoke Genetically modified budz would they?
