Look what I found

Recommended Posts

There's a dump out here, near me.. they have a kinda "shop" affair. They sell stuff that people might be able to use. I sometimes go there to get pots for the garden, but gee I've seen some amazing stuff, and is a good source for making a system. Lengths of PVC pipe, timber, tubs. They even have like 10 or so 150watt HPS lights there in a box for ten dollars a pop! ballasts and light holder, bulb..all there.

I once got two seperate NFT systems there. One just a meter long, 3 pipes wide. The other one was a fair bit larger. I used both almost exactly as i found them and bought them for pittance. They seem to "price" things as they go along. When I asked them about the pipe (NFT) system years ago, how much they wanted... the guy said "aww.. gee how can we really charge you anything, they're full of bloody holes. Just give us a couple bux".

Today I was scrounging through the pots, and Karen says to me "get alook at that", and so ten dollars later I have a flood table.

It's got a small crack that needs repairing, not structural or anything, a few cm long- nothing serious.

Not a bad day huh.

cheers

The real laugh was when I staggered up the hill outside the dump with it, the place is busier than Myers on saturday. I got to the car, fully aware it wasn't going to go in the boot, and it wasn't going in the back seat, no matter how far we put the seats forward.

So the misses pulled the seat covers off and laid them on the roof and I happened to have a rope in the boot. So we drove home with it tied to the roof of the car :toke:. Legs up of course. (it's all solidly bolted togther)

I know it sounds paranoid, but there were cops everywhere. Two were speeding to jobs, and two sets of lights were crawling with young bloke cops directing traffic as the Main Roads did their thing .

I suppose it's 12 miles or so home?

I have no idea if they clicked onto what it was, but it made the ice on the cake for me if you know what I mean. It was a gas.

cheers

Yeah ya right there. I have a neighbour that's a true nosey arsehole. He and I had a shouting match over him tearing into my wife for turning the garden hose on for a few seconds to wash something off the lawn mower.

But the reality is I can't use this for grass right now, because the walk in robe I will use for ghrowing in here, wont fit this in. So I'll use it in the back yard, grow some cababges or soemthing. I wanted to experiment with using many pots and drippers to each one, rather than a standard flood tray anyhow. Doing cabbages or something first will help me work out any buggs with my idea..

The crack is toward one corner, on an "up" part (when siting in position to run), so it's not in a channel or anything. It's just a couple cm long, took a fair bit to discover it. A bit of araldite ought to sort it out.

cheers
