Do i need Fans?

I have made a grow box just for my seeds to get bout 15cm high so i can move them out side. The box is about 30cm High, 50cm Long, 25cm wide. i went down to the local hardware shop today and bought a workmen fluro which was like 11w and $60 i have stringed it to the lid of the box. i wraped the box in foil (dont critsise me). And my CS seeds have just popped out of the soil. i just leave the lid a bit open. the light get so hot i can hardly touch it. do i need a fan. if yes where do i get one cause i live in the city and i will need one which i will just have to plug in becuase i am not really a genious at electronics. HELL YES !!! Three main reasons - 1, for cooling, 2, for air circulation - plants breathe in and out, and 3, a bit of breeze helps the stems grow stronger.

wow you sure got rorted big time should have just gone to golo because you could have picked up a lamp and 11w CF globe for $13 in total

 

anyways have a look around golo, big w, woolies, etc. for those really small oscilating fans, i think they are 15cm in diameter and will cost you about $10

I don't think the foil will play much of a role under the fluros - perhaps just painting the interior white would be better and less resistant to wear.

 

A small fan would be a good call to help the production of good stems but won't help your overheating if there is not sufficient venting for the hot air to escape. Fluros get warm but shouldn't raise the temps to bad levels - if the box is in a cool spot indoors then I wonder why the high temps? Do you have a thermometer? You can get a digital one on eBay for under $20.

Hi yam, sounds a bit hot. If your able to leave the lid cracked open to let the hot air out and can put a cheap little fan like wantdachronic said, should work ok, cheers

also ... have your lights-on period at NIGHT when the outside temperatures are at their lowest! i flower from 6:30pm-6:30am
