Thousand cannabis plants found at site of fire

Police and fire safety officers have found around a thousand cannabis plants at the scene of a fire northwest of Auckland this morning.

 

Eight fire appliances were called to the rural address near Coatesville where a single-storey chicken shed was ablaze.

 

Police spokesman Kevin Loughlin said the cause of the fire was an overloaded switchbox, which had been generating a considerable amount of electricity to assist with the growth of the plants.

funny how it can be reported that there was origionally 600 and then there was 1000 and holy fuck 1000 plants in a chicken shed thats pretty tight if ya ask me

 

and the other thing why would they emphasize that it was a single story chook house maybe its just me but i aint seen many double story chook palaces in my time

 

 

i wonder if TT can shed some light on these new fangled double story chucken houses

Perfect example of why electrical safety is important for the home grower. Allways use circuit breakers and residual current devices to protect against fire and electricution. I've recently been considering getting a fire alarm in the grow room.

I heard it was 600 - 30 got toasted. Saw the shed on tv. Was a single story barn - not used for chicks. Looked like more than 8 lights, a couple of extractors and BIG fu@k off carbon filters grown in soil (chicky pooh) NZ Herald always over reports numbers, makes for better news . I've always had a smoke detector hooked up to my home alarm which rings my cell phone in an alarm event.

 

Hope everyone takes notice of this as people tend to eventually run more light and equipment then they should on household circuits. normally rated 10a max.

 

I spent some $$ on running a dedicated line to my main power box with a 20a RCD. Better safe than toasted - Insurance comp would run a mile if your house caught fire cause of a grow. If renting then you are fu##ed too!
