Canna Flores

Recommended Posts

Hey

I was just wondering what EC yous mix your Flores to?

I thought following the instructions on the bottle would be the best way to mix the nutes but have recently been advised that I should lower my EC to about 1.4- 1.5? I have recently started flowering my plants and thought I'd give er a go at the low EC...

I can already notice a little 'leaf burn' so am going to make up a slightly stronger solution of about 1.9 EC.

I'm growing in clay balls, nearly a week into flower...

Just Curios,

Cheers

yeah racingsnake,

a little 'leaf burn' so am going to make up a slightly stronger solution of about 1.9 EC

I think you might be better mixing a weaker solution after doin a flush maybe.

I'm using Canna Flores, and am about 12 days into flower with 5 Celtic Stone.

My current EC is around 1.8, and I won't really go much higher than that. I've got some additives as well in that 1.8.

I ran the Canna Veg at the lower level and the Celtic has loved it -A tip from someone in this forum. Started veg about 1.2, went up to about 1.6EC till the I turned em.

The 'official' Canna charts I think only get up to about 1.95EC in flower. And that's with the other Canna additives thrown in.

Looking forward to seeing some pics of ya grow.

Cheers.

hey there snake

i use canna all the time but unfortunatly i measure in ppm so dont really know what ec i run but i usually keep my nutes at about 1700ppm all the time in veg and in flower

now with ya leaf burn i would be getting a pic and putting it in here cause it maybe due to over fert but may also be due to underfert.

the other thing i would be suggesting specially in clay balls like myself you really need to flush your medium with ph adjusted plain water befor you switch from veg to flower as i always find a build up of salts in my medium at this time. Once you have flushed then i go straight onto full strength nutes and keep it going all the time during flower

hope this helps

Substra or aqua? check this link out Canna. I used to go off the bottle successfully but have had better luck using the grow schedule off their site. The only thing I don't know about is they are only reccomending 1 week vegative light then going to vegative nutrient on a flower cycle of light? could work well but I'm not game to try when 2 - 3 weeks veg light and nutes seems to do well for me.

best of luck

Hey Boys

I changed my nute solution last night, FK it, decided to run EC at around 2.0... just a gut feeling and also, with the results of the last little crop in mind? The bottle recons run at a ratio of 2.5-3.5 ml /L or at an EC 1.5 to 2 above the EC of tap water. The tapwater here is 0.6.

I figure the plants are nearly 6 months old so they are pretty mature now so they should handle the mix of 3 ml/L?

I guess I'll see how they are going on this strength in about a weeks time after the results finally manifest themselves noticably. :peace:

Stoney, here are a few pics showing a little of the leaf burn... It is only on the lower leaves( the tops are looking really good) that have got it... I read somewhere that too low nutes in the solution would cause the nutes to leach 'backwards' from the plants back into the solution due to osmosis.

I was running my solution at low at around the 1.5 EC at the arse end of veg and then also similar EC for the first week of flower. :toke:

Ah yes, Thanks for that Canna link MO. I just checked that and according to that page, I'm right on the money now ::toke::

Hi racingsnake, lookin good, if not a little overgrown? If your already starting to see burnt lower leaf I'd be cautious of upping the nutes.

I read somewhere that too low nutes in the solution would cause the nutes to leach 'backwards' from the plants back into the solution due to osmosis.

This is not what's causing your yellow leaf imo. You could run those plants at 1.0 EC and not have any osmosis probs.

Too high a nutrient level can lead to root damage and possible infection.

All in all though looking very good, cheers :toke:

what you have to remember with nutes is that different mediums/hydro systems may need different nute levels. So what may be right for a flood and drain might burn the same plants in a bubbler for example. So when comparing nute levels used by other growers you also need to know what hydro system they are using those levels in.

what system are you running?

Hey Guys

I Used to feed 'em once every 3 hours during lights on and starting 15 minutes before and ending just before lights off. I was advised by a Hydro-shop that I should feed continiously as I'm in clay balls...

I have definately seen a growth spurt since I have started continious feeding... although I don't know if it is because i have more plant material growing now or because of the nutes if you know what I mean?

When I was doing my last res. cleanout, I noticed roots growing into the res. too- just starting to poke in... I disconnected the hose and cut the sneaky little buggers off at the pot...nearly a metre of them!!

If they are getting all the nutes they need, why would they search for more?

Hey Bufo.

Are you talking about the 'yellow' new growth or the one in the pic? My newer leaves look healthy to me but they dont start out dark green... they start out yellowish an take a few to green up? Is this normal or could this be some defficiency?

Cheers again

The end tips are burnt on those leaves snake. Looks like too much nutrient but I don't want to say too much as I'm not up with Canna stuff. Also if the top of the plant is healthy you can't be too far off.

If the new leaves are yellow would that not indicate they need some Nitrogen?

Oh and congratulations you had a DWC going,... that is until you cut off the roots :toke:
