QUEENSLAND and NSW police have raided the properties of members of a motorbike gang, alleged to be part of a sophisticated drug syndicate.

 

About 50 locations in Queensland and NSW linked to the Nomads motorcycle club were raided in a concerted operation early this morning.

 

The alleged drug syndicate includes members and associates of the Gold Coast, Ipswich and Byron Bay chapters of the Nomads.

 

The raids were carried out following an organised crime operation involving Queensland's Crime and Misconduct Commission, the Australian Crime Commission and police from Queensland and NSW.

 

More details on the raids were expected to be made public this afternoon.

Bikie drug raids

 

Raids on around 50 premises in New South Wales, and across south east Queensland have closed down a major drug trafficking syndicate, allegedly run by members of a Gold Coast-based bikie gang.

 

It's alleged the 'Nomads' have been under surveillance for 18 months and were driving a sophisticated drug trafficking syndicate, across borders from Byron Bay to the Coast and west to Ipswich.

 

In a collaborative effort The Crime and Misconduct Commission, Queensland Police, Australian Crime Commission and New South Wales police, joined forces.

 

21 people are under arrest accused of trafficking, supplying and producing amphetamines, running into millions of dollars.

 

The arrests are expected to continue.
