Jess the Nimbin Hemp Embassy did all but actively encourage the harsher laws for hydro in NSW. one of them even tried to justify it as "evening up" the laws so indoor growers now face the same penalties pound for pound as outdoor growers. I assume you read the thread Jess as you made the last post in it...

 

but anyway, why do people hang shit on commercial growers? They fill a need.......

 

The new hydro ( old now ) laws were made to combat the rise in large commercial indoor crops in NSW and mainly the metropolitan areas of Sydney . These large scale operations are usually run by criminal groups as we have seen in many a bust ( Bike gangs , Asian Triads , Middle Eastern crime syndicates even religious groups ) to generate large amounts of cash , you won't see these guys marching in a pot rally at any time.

Until the new laws were formulated and installed these groups enjoyed the same penalties as outdoor growers

When it came time for the laws to be updated the Hemp Embassy sought to distinguish between outdoor growers and these groups and then to DISTANCE themselves from them ( Indoor Commercial growers )

They got off their asses and looked after thier interests , the indoor growers did nothing and the laws were made to target them directly.

Whether the Hemp Embassy did anything to alter these laws is pure speculation and is not supported by anything factual , the laws were going that way anyway because of a specific problem.

You only have to read the said laws to see that they purport to grow houses run by criminal gangs and not small time growers.

Sure I'm pissed that I'm thrown into another catergory of grower cos I have over 5 plants under light , but growing and smoking and selling a bud to ya mate is also illegal - but I'm prepared to do the time as the saying goes

People hang shit on commercial growers because all they see on TV is busts involving some criminal gang in an affluent suburb of Sydney with a string of grow houses , BMW's , gold plated guns and wads of cash ....... it aint Marc Emery is it ?
