Kochie and Kerry Anne Kennerly

while i missed the "unbiased" report on how society regards cannabis as uncool and unacceptable, i did manage to get a transcript of the show and am literally sick to my stomach with what was said.

first off the pfizer report on cannabis said virtually the opposite of what the government has been spoon feeding the population at large, eg. government says cannabis causes mental illness, while the pfizer study said that it can trigger episodes in those already with a mental illness such as schizophrenia or bring out those mental conditions in those genetically prone to developing those same mental conditions anyway.

Secdondly, while cannabis isnt a harmless drug, its the consumption methods that make it dangerous to a person's health. What needs to be done is to educate cannabis smokers to stop smoking and to vapourize or eat the cannabis instead. Eating and vapourizing are much healthier options for consumption as they dont involve combusting the plant material and literally no smoke enters the body.

lastly, if you want to have a strong anti drug stance, DONT DRINK ALCOHOL ON TV! it sickens me even more to think how anti cannabis you are, yet you have no problems drinking on the air infront of millions of susceptible children who look up to the people on tv as role models. Alcohol is responsible for more problems and harm to society at large than EVERY SINGLE OTHER DRUG COMBINED! when was the last time a cannabis smoker made it on the news for having a few joints and then beating his entire family up? or the cannabis smoker who smoked a few bongs, went for a drive and caused a 10 car pile up? you dont see them because it doesnt happen! but its only a matter of seconds before you can find those same situations which were caused by alcohol.

you really need to wake up and get over the whole refer madness australia seems to be in at the moment. If you just open your eyes you can see the government will say anything to appear hard on drugs while only causing more problems for the average citizen. Your comments were made using misinformation which will only further hurt the cannabis users in this country by making them out to be criminals. I highly recommend that you research all the available information from both points of view to ensure that a fair and unbiased report can be made. Once you do that for cannabis, instantly your stance towards the drug will change and instead of being a wanna be anti cannabis nazi, you'll be pushing for cannabis reform instead.

My Email to the Sunrise Soapbox!

I always thought that David Koch was a prick and that’s why I don’t watch Sunrise anymore, but it has come to my attention that yesterday he interviewed some asinine twit about marijuana and the fact that it is no longer “cool” and that it is dangerous and ruins peoples’ lives, etc, etc.

It just goes to show how inane Mr. Koch and the rest of you are. I have diabetes and consequently I have problems with glaucoma. Nothing else works to relieve my problems like cannabis. Sure I also feel great after I use it. I engage in anti-social activities like reading, thinking (very dangerous), communing with God and just chilling out. Sometimes I get high and cook meals or clean the house or just sit and watch the world go by. Would you rather that I was blind or that I use prescription pharmaceuticals that cost Australian taxpayers money, have side effects and don’t work as well?

Really, this is the twenty-first century and the “War on Drugs” like the “War on Terrorism” or the “War on Poverty” is a pretext for a “War on People”. Sure marijuana leads to drugs like heroin – just like tea and butter does. Ask any heroin user and they’ll tell you that before they used heroin they used tea and butter. Why don’t you support lengthy gaol sentences for the peddlers of tea?

Unfortunately too many deluded people look up to television personalities like you and all of you have sold them short peddling rubbish like you broadcast yesterday.

As the old saying goes: With pot and vaginas there’s always an arsehole nearby and David Koch – you’re it!

Al Fish

Guys your bringing tears to my eyes ,its fantastic,we really should be working together like this more. The Jews do this, they have websites with this thing called megaphone, not sure how it works but it notifies and enables large numbers of Jews to swamp a website if it disagrees with their views. Its very effective as we all know the Jews get stuff removed that offends them all the time because they work together. May I suggest we get a crew together like this ! We could call ourselves ,say , something like, the "WRECKING CREW" :peace:

nice work guys here is the one I sent off.

Sure, when cannabis is abused it can cause health and social problems. But so can alcohol, cigarettes, prescription drugs, junk food, and any other number of LEGAL substances available in our society.

The crime with anti-cannabis laws is that they persecute people for exercising a personal choice which is not only relatively harmless to themselves but is absolutely harmless to anyone else. Not to mention its numerous medicinal applications.

And in case you didn't know, there are many ways to consume cannabis other than smoking it which are completely harmless to your health.

Cannabis prohibition wastes our tax dollars by persecuting people who pose no threat or burden towards others whatsoever and the laws which make it illegal actually make it more available to kids, who I agree shouldn't be smoking it. And the damage these laws cause some people/families can be devastating, and all because they like to smoke a joint before going to bed at night?

Why don't you help restore some sanity and justice into our drug laws instead of joining the moronic reefer madness cheering squad.

Put aside a couple of hours and do some research on the web, you might be surprised what you learn.

These are just some thoughts I had on the issue, admittedly I don't know much on the issue, these opinions are based on the information provided in the transcript alone.

And I sent this one off to Sunrise SoapBox ,FUCK THEM THE GLOVES ARE OFF AND I WANT TO FIGHT ,HURT and WIN and I will !

This letter just seems like an embarrassment to the pro-cannabis community, just because someone is not for the use of recreational drugs does not make them a 'nazi', as you so articulately put it. They are entitled to their opinion on any issue just as you or I are. This is called democracy.

Also users using language such as 'prick' only hurts our cause, it makes us look uneducated if we can not put our complaints together in a more formal manner.

Pipeman's letter:

I would say was by far the best letter submitted shown in this thread. It's reasonable, he comes off as very well spoken and doesn't sound like he is just an angry pothead writing a letter because someone disagrees with him.

While Paul Dillons argument was one sided, I'm sure any pro-cannabis individual would have supplied findings just as biased. Paul Dillon even stated that it was more of a health problem, than crime related, which is true, if you light anything and breath the smoke into your lungs it will cause damage. While vaporizers can be offered as a solution, this does not mean that people will use them, as some people who are even aware of their benefits still prefer to use alternative methods for whatever reason they may choose.

As for the issue of alcohol's equally if not more damaging properties, this was not brought up in the interview so all we can do is speculate what the involved parties thoughts on the issues are. Say what you want, but alcohol itself is not the problem, it's the people who consume it and become uncontrollable who are. Using statistical data to compare how dangerous alcohol is to other drugs, is inaccurately as far as I'm concerned as a much larger proportion of the population use alcohol than illicit drugs, so the statistics must obviously be taken from a much smaller number of experiments

Also, Television is a business and they are just providing their audience with what they want, obviously if you wanted quality nonobjective journalism you wouldn't be watching Sunrise or the Kerry-Anne Kennely show, as I think that it is quite clear they (particularly the Kerry-Anne Kennely show, Sunrise to a lesser degree) offer sensationalized journalism, made more for the purpose of entertainment than news.

People have been complaining about how inaccurate the governments information on the issue is for years, yet in this thread the pfizer report has been criticized for contradicting government reports. I don't see the logic in this, would anyone be able to explain this to me?

In my opinion sheep minded mentality like this should be avoided, we should promote discussion on the issue however we shouldn't attempt to boycott any people/organizations with an opposing view. After all, once again they are also entitled to their opinion on the issue, the same way we are entitled to our own.
