Osmocote

Recommended Posts

Been having trouble with my plants, not growing that well and getting unhealthy/browning leaves. Anyway, chatting to sols about a week ago and he suggested osmocote because slow releasing ferts are good in soil mixes. He also suggested adding a product called Trace Elements, which apparently has every essential element required for healthy plant growth.

In the supermarket the other day I spotted some osmocote and it said it included Trace Elements. So I added a couple of handfulls to each pot and mixed it into the top inch or so of soil and gave them all a good watering. This was a couple of days ago and I can already see a big improvement. The plants have gone on a major growth spurt and are looking much healthier in general.

I'm absolutely wrapped and feeling much better about my grow. So a big thanks to sols for the tip on osmocote and trace elements and I encourage anyone having trouble with their soil mix to do the same.

Yoo yo Pipeman

I used ozmo potting mix for my first grow and it seemed to work great ;)

Although from what i have been told it is a big NO NO!!!

Why???

Cos when it comes time to flush out your plants the ozmo is still left behind (YOU CANT FLUSH IT LIKE NORMAIL NUTES)........ What does this mean????

Well i think u know.......... Shitty gear which tastes like shit and will burn your mouth. :P

I would be very interested to know how your gear comes out???? Mine was fine but mayb i was lucky?? Let me know

Thanks

I dunno if I am correct here Sab because I've never persoanlly never used them, but I am curious if you added the slow release ferts at the start of the veg stage and they get weaker towards end of the haverest? so there wouldnt be much chems from these slow release ferts at the end? The reason i thought this because everytime you water them, they start to wash off slowly? so there would be only small amounts by the time you start pulling them out of pots?

Anyone can inform me bit more here? just curious. :P

Thanks,

nah man I think thats how it generally is. I asked the person who suggested I use osmocote (sols) about this and he said he always used osmocote when growing in soil and never noticed a chemical taste in his buds.

when you think about it they market the stuff to grow edible foods, so if it was bad for you or left a taste in the harvested product it wouldn't be on the market.

but I'll be sure to give a report on how mine turns out.

I used to use Osmocote for my soil indoor grows and found that it had a much shorter life span in the grow room, any added during the grow was tossed on the surface where it could be carefully vacuumed off when it came time to flush, I used to toss some aquarium gravel in the pot after vacuuming, perlite would be better but it wasn't cheap back then.
