I was wondering how they would cope with the extreme cold, but it seems that 13 x 400w HPS lights and a heater do the trick just right

 

 

But funnily enough, this isn't the first question that local experts have asked them. What they're really curious about is whether they're allowed to grow 'anything' down there in Antarctica.

I was actually just pondering this little idea the other day; How would one go about growing herb if they were stranded or in my case holidaying in Antarctica.

It's funny how things go I just clicked on and saw this thread here and it blew me away. A few of us were just the other day recalling how the Aus team at Antarctica were busted for growing grass.

 

We were actually talking about how the whole nature of this country is changing with so many "dob" in facilities.

 

Some bloke is dobbing people in for fishing a local dam in an out of bounds area (near my home) the bloke next door threatened to dob my wife for runing the garden hose for a minute to get ssome crap off the lawn mower and just the general "dobbing" attitude that's encouraged these days.

 

I was having a rant about it when we remembered that one of the camp Mawson team reported two of her "collegues" for growing their own personal smoke. Imagine being that stuck up.

 

As sad as it was for them it's good to know it were the Australians to fist officially be known to grow dope at the south pole.

its something about human nature. people don't like others doing things differently to themselves. I had a nieghbour call the cops on me once for nothing more than he thought I was sus. ok I was sus, but what fucking business was it of his? I wasn't bothering him at all, but he still felt the need to call the cops..

Do yous have any kids at school as it seems the way they are taugth to deal with problems is by dobbing in on the culprit and even rewarded for it.

 

Now I have tried to teach my kid that if hes threatened or hit he is allowed to strike back the best he can to ensure hes saftey but he is addament that he is to run away and tell a teacher.

 

I hate this and see that this will create many gang mentalities that will strap together so they have someone to go tell and solve there problems out of school

 

But what am I to do but wait for him to get into a situation where running and telling doesnt work and then teach the way of the world as it is..

"Dobbing" is a cancer on society.

In 1936 long before the extermination of the jews began enmasse the German gov was exterminating people with low IQs inbred types anyone disabled -even if only deaf!

In two years before public pressure turned on them they executed more than 200 000 cripples and deaf people. How did they find them? A naitional register on them? Nope; the community was encouraged to contact the authorities and consequently (according to the deaf people I saw interviewed on TV that survived this) it was their own familes that dobbed them! If enough protest was made the deaf kids could be simply casterated.

 

The german gov published how much it cost the communtiy in resources for each type of disabled. Like a campaign would run explaining a deaf person could cost the health system the country's productivity etc to the tune of 200 marks per year and the list went on.

It was considered "hard" but good for a better germany to dob in those you loved. Every person who explained it said they justified it with "it's not so bad".

It truly scares me when I see our community respond to what single mother's pension cost the dole cripples etc. Even if these things didn't touchme directly I'm scared of what could happen. It's exactly the same as what hitler did make the public turn on family and freinds based ontax dollars. While the governemtns pend so much more on nonsense. Even ifthe gov. didn't waste $$ theselves it's still frightening to se public opinion turn on countrymen and women family etc.. on how much ot costs to "keep them".

 

BTW apparentlya d rop in unemployment from here would rag down waghes. I was reading a lot of stuff piublished by professors on hte sibject the other night onthe net resevre bank people etc. Black economies with businesses being able to surviv eby "dole cheats" being worked mych cheaper than a legitamate wage earner would need to be paid alows many busineses to survive is just one example of why lowering unemployment would injure the economy. But still the gov gets milage demonising dole recipients they play both sides of the same card.

 

even when they came top arrest the jews anyone the officials were unsure of they were dobed on by the community. People they had grown up with people the endangered felt safe amongst. But the gov campaigned enough tto create a mental;ity that it's right and good to report "wrong doing".

 

Romania is said to have had a file on each and every citizen not by huge budgets for the police or special exquipment . They brainwashed society to dob in anything unusual from excesive religous (reading certain material) to having clothes beyond their means visits at strange hour... anything a nosey neighnor might find interesting. everyone was dobbing on each other. It was encouraged also as if you knew something but didn't report it you could share in the condemantion. But mainly it was simply encouraged that it was needed for a good and fair society to catch out the "cheats" and the gov couldnt do it alone so if the community wanted safe and orderly laces to live it was their responsabilty to do this themseleves.

 

Kids at school today?? a mate inUSa is ateacher and once a year the cops come in and they lecture the dangers of drugs them ask each child if anyone at home has items that look like these shown to you today.. My mate's school kids always gave up a handfull of names eachyear. One year a litle girl dobbed her grandad who happened to be a smoking mate to my freind.

they did this in school when my youngest were at school maybe 15 years ago but it didn't last parents were outraged. (australia Imean)

 

It's a serious problem.

You see all that carnage and injury 40 million dead in that war with execution camps and inncoent deaths from colateral injury etc...for what? The goal of that carange is easy to dismiss as just some madman who wanted to see death and destruction but their goal was an ordely "moral" society. Where dobbing would be normal and essential to an orderly society etc..

Watch all that death and crap of hitler's reign and what it was all envisaged on was an orderly and accountable society. Scarey thought.

 

This is what overly "orderly" gives us. I just hate dobbing and not just because of who we are and what we do.. but for the readsons I mentioned and there's endless examples of societies being ruined with such mentality.

when I was a kid it's almost be easier to be accused of a pedaophile than a dobber. Almost. If a person was known as the kind to call the cops or whatever for anything but the mosturgent of dangerous reasons man they were not welcome in the community.

Now they have "dob in a dole bludger" dob in a dope dealer" "dob in bla bla.."

It's become accepted and understood by most people as needed for an orderly society sound familar?

 

I'd like this country to go back to when you lived and let live if someone did something that needed attention you dealt with it as best you could. People who dobbed each other and it only everhappened on things that would be considered automatic these days were lonely and avoided poeple. society felt more noble then I reckon. in principle I mean.

I also hate dobbing. It was greatly encouraged at my last workplace with limited success. It seemed that only the younger workers were involved. very disturbing. Kind of Hitler youth!

 

Regarding the Mawson station it was interesting that the seeds were found to be not viable before their use by date! As they were stored in cold dry conditions i would have thought they would have lasted years. Should i take my seeds out of the fridge? I thought the best way to store seeds was in a cool dry place.
