Recommended Posts

hi guys im new to growing,ive got around ten plants i put seeds in around 10th of december in those expandable jiffy things,anyway on the 3-01-07 they were put under 600 watt hps i think so they were grown naturally up until 13 days ago,im surprised how much they have grown since being put under the light,also i put a few more under the light from seedlings on the 3rd of this month they are going realy good as well,anyway i need help in the light cycle like how many hours must the light be on from the start of the grow up until the very end of the grow,also whats the watering procedures.when to water and how much to water.2 of my plants are around 11 and a half inches tall and they are haze cross skunk,the others are white skunk and white rhino.all help will be much appreciated

Light:

vege = 18 hours on, 6 off

flower = 12 hours on, 12 off

Water:

depends on your growing style, but chances are you are growing in pots using soil, coco, or something along those lines in which case give the plants a good watering untill water comes out the bottom. check on them every day and when they begin to wilt, give them another water and take a day off between the next watering :peace: as for how much to water them, remember how much water it took to get water out the bottom of the pots and take a bit off for the next watering :ack:

if you have any more problems, check out the plant probs link in my sig as it will more than likely answer alot of your problems :toke:

GROW HOURS:

Vegetative Cycle: First 2months of growth or until the plant is 2 or 3 ft. high is 18 hours of light

Flowering Cycle: Last 2 or 3 months of growth is 12 hours of light.

WATERING:

Do not overwater. Make sure you have drains to run out excess water.

Water usually every 3 days in soil.

( to check when to water, feel is soil is moist or dry. If dry then water!)

the others are right on the money for ya lights and it woulod help us alot if ya told us what medium you were growing in that way we can really help ya out

but yeah if ya in soil every second or third day you can also do what i do and pic up one of ya pots just after ya water it you will feel the weight then once ya top 2 inch's of soil is dry pick the pot up again and you will feel the differance

just a tip not the best to do when really stoned or you wil not remember and will have to do again :peace:

I leave my lights on for 24 hrs during veg (yes, on all the time) and then cut it to 12 for flowering. This doesn't seem to harm the plants at all. The last variety i grew i kept alive for 2 years this way. I know it sounds crazy but it works. I also believe the plants grow a little faster and it might keep the height down.

I used to run mine at 24/0. You indeed do get faster growing plants, However it was suggested to me to try the 18/6.

I did, and although the slowed down a little. They seemed to like it better. They had less problems and less stress. The plant doesnt need to sleep. But it certainly does prefer it. i cant remeber that well, as my stoner brain is fried. But The plants make some chemical during the dark period that helps them deal with stress.

The other thing is that the lighting system doesnt get a rest, and never cools down. It also saves a little on your power bill. So its a good timing system to use IMO.

I think unless your in a big hurry, go with the 18/6 for veg, but 24/0 will still veg your plants.

12/12 is always what we use to force flowering to start.

under fluoros i run 24 hr

but today introduced a 18/6 photoperiod to give em a break

under a hid i would only run 18/6

then flip to 12/12..i wait for the plant to show signs of maturity in the vege stage,like the alternating of nodes..

and with tge perlite id be feeding em every 2 hrs with a res and rtw

and the perlite/verm combo id probably feed at every 3 or 4 hrs..depending on the ratio of vermiculite..

feeding every 2 hrs with the waether we have had of late in aus id be keepin the ec a little lower than normal..

then in the cooler months u could get away with feeds every 3 4 hours

all the best and letr us know how u got..

any photos?
