Air cooling suggestions? (thermostats? portable aircons?)

Recommended Posts

Its just a small 4 plant setup. Its in a normal bedroom-sized room so about 4m x 4m ... in that room is a 2m x 2m x 2m chamber. Exhaust fan at the top of that, and a 4-speed fan inside.

Im thinking of possibly getting a small dehumidifier (ie just a 500ml catchment) as well as a portable air conditioner. I'd preferably like to use a thermostat on both the air conditioner and dehumidifier so that itll automatically turn on if the temperature is above say 28C, but for the life of me my googling hasnt found any such thermostats - do they have a special name!?

Hey notdave, i got a portable mitsubitshi aircon, its a beaut.

Never got used enough tho so was sent north where its needed

That one is a unit on wheels and comes with exhaust ducting and fitting to suit a window. (you'd of course be best to scrub this air first for stealth - if required)

It also catches condensate water in a bottle (err about 2-3 ltr) inside the machine. Need to empty it every day if in it's on 12.

So I guess this takes care of the humidity to?

Doesn't help the power bill as you'd know. Good luck chillin mate

i just spoke to my vietnamese mate.. he does alot of indoor- not me, he is ex-canadian.. he told me a cheap way if u want to cool a room and are just gonna run a de-humidifier is to also get a "ice fan" dont no much about it.. its just his recommendation.. (for power costs he said)

He said its like a fan that u put ice bricks into it.. said he seen em at bunnings for unda 50 bucks..

P.S of course a portable aircon is a beter yet more expensive (and power hungry solution)

Also you can buy small temp sensors from eletronics shops and get em to go on or off at certain levels by re wiring a simple electronics circuit that goes on at a pre defined level.. if u want more info i will elaborate.. if not- waste of typing .. im bout to go my first joint for the night/day
